Last week, on August 27, the Coppell City Council approved the fiscal year 2024-2025 budget, a document that extends beyond numbers and allocations to embody the community's values, the City Council’s vision, and the City of Coppell's organizational culture. This budget is a manifestation of Coppell's commitment to building a sustainable future and fostering a family-oriented community. Influenced by the community-driven Vision 2030 and Vision 2040 strategic plans, the budget reflects a continuity of purpose shaped by years of planning and development. Every expenditure outlined in the budget translates into tangible benefits, including: ➡ Water interconnects with Lewisville and Grapevine, ensuring future water availability in case of emergency  ➡ Building Fire Station 5 ➡ Maintaining critical infrastructure  ➡ Offering expanded activities in Old Town ➡ Enhancing neighborhood integrity ➡ Expanding Coppell’s economy These initiatives aim to cultivate a healthier, more connected community for all. **Share Your Ideas About Lynchburg’s Future by Filling Out The New Comprehensive Plan Survey** Lynchburg residents have great ideas about what they would like to see the City do to address topics like capital investments, land use and future development, parks and open spaces, housing, transportation, tourism, sustainability, the environment, urban growth, and more! The survey will be open to the public until March 1, 2024. == Note: The City of Lynchburg is required to prepare a comprehensive plan as a long-term guide to organize and develop a community initiative. The plan promotes the City’s goals, objectives, and policies as decisions are made on current and long-term needs. Public participation and input from citizens are important in developing the Comprehensive Plan as the community’s needs and desires can help craft an effective plan. The Lynchburg Planning Commission will oversee the drafting process which is expected to begin in March 2024.

A new report by the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) found the need for affordable rental housing is now more severe than it was prior to the pandemic, with the shortage of affordable rental homes up 480,000 from 2019.
