Director of Brand @ Grüns | Founder, The Branded Moment | Creator Sharing Brand Case Studies, Trends, & Insights
Did you know the Catalina Wine Mixer wasn’t a real event until the movie Step Brothers made it one... 6 years later? The *iconic* gala takes place during the last scene of the movie when the brothers head to the "greatest wine tasting event" on Catalina Island. The fictional event appeared so real, people would google the event to see if it was actually a thing. It got so much traction that 6 YEARS after the movie came out, Catalina Island *actually* decided to create the mixer IRL. To say it was a success is an understatement. It’s 2024, and the mixer STILL sells out every year. As a brand marketer, one thing is clear: Branded entertainment is a powerful medium to create movements. Instead of trying to insert yourself into the story, you have the power to write it yourself. Tag a friend who you'd take to the IRL Catalina Wine Mixer 🍷 #brandmarketing #brandedentertainment #brandbuilding

I'm not surprised, it is so good you don't know there's no alcohol. Why buy Lucky Saint? They tick all my boxes. > flexible subscription option - I get a new box delivered every 6 weeks > they have their own pub in Marylebone, called…The Lucky Saint! > Lucky Saint is a certified B Corp, committed to prioritising the welfare of people and the planet alongside profit Dive in. Join the Rebellion | Beerpreneur & Founder of State Of Play, NZ’s First Zero Alcohol Brewery | Beer Online, Retail & Wholesale | Inspirational Keynote Speaker | The Truth About Alcohol | Strategic Business Consultant
Tonight i'm at Small Gods Taproom in Shaddock St for one of their epic events This one will be about Beer, Gear, and walking into some Fear! Let's have a beer together and hear the State of Play story - going alcfree, starting NZ's fastest growing brewery, the future of beer and how my mid-life anti-crisis continues walking 800kms across Spain. First decision - what gear do I need? So I asked Ben at Living SImply. Bar is open from 5pm and we will kick off 6:30pm till 8:30. I love beer and love walking. So I'm combining my two loves and walking 800kms across the top of Spain on the Camino Frances next March. Spain has the highest percentage of non-alc beer at 15% share of total beer. SO lots of market research to do? And 40 days of needing a beer after a long walk. But how do you prepare for a trip like this and who can you trust for the right gear and the right advice. I chose Ben at Living Simply (Newmarket) and bought one of their Aarn Packs. These guys have all the best gear for your adventuring and trusted Camino advice. We thought we would include some beers and the story of @stateofplaybeer, to a Camino special gear review and Q&A with the experts. It's FREE to attend, buy a beer (there is plenty of State of Play) and if you have already walked a camino bring your memories. Ben will bring along his best sellers to show for the Gear review. I will have some State of Play cans for you to take home too.

Have you ever been to a summer festival where one food truck is always busy? It has long queues all day and outsells everyone else? That's because they are doing something different. They do 1 thing incredibly well. Woodfire pizza. One size. Three choices. Kids. Adults. Vegan. Done. They know their audience. They know where they are selling. Other food trucks serve great food, but there is too much choice. Other food trucks do one thing, but the quality, service, and vibe aren't as good. Their queues are shorter because word of mouth isn't buzzing. Do one thing; do it well. Consider this and be like the wood-fired pizza food truck when you speak at your next event. Most speakers use a conference talk to share a list of tips. 4 / 6 / 8 / 12 - I know, I used to do the same. Stop. Don't do this. Tell one story of a moment in your success/career when, against the odds, you won. This is what people want. This is what they will remember. This is the wood fire pizza. When your talk is sharing a list of tips your audience feels like they are staring at the menu board of a food truck with too many choices. Too many choices / too much information means they remember nothing. Plus it's not what they came to the conference for. A conference is a full-on day. Lots to do and see. Which talk to attend? What to miss? Got to get the quality networking in. If you give a 20-minute talk and the event is 6 hours, your talk is less than 6% of the time. Plus, there are generally simultaneous talks in different rooms. So your 6% competes with other professionals' 6%. Just like a festival, the audience needs to choose which band they watch - which food truck they buy from. And which they don't. Keep it simple. Tell that story you have lived. Avoid educating and explaining. GPTS and blogs do that. Inspire and motivate. What to know how Shelley did it? Join me on June 19th at 12.30 UK time for a free webinar. Paid tickets are available that come with resources and coaching. If speaking at events is part of your BD for 2024 / 25, then join me. Our speciality-helping entrepreneurial business owners win *Sharing info on how ambitious business owners can build more profitable businesses* Hiring -looking for a Qual ACCA with 5/6 year experience - DM me
You may only need one idea to change everything. …here’s an idea from a beer festival. 👇 I was an invited guest to a special beer festival. I’ve never been into a brewery before, so it was really nice that it was held in the Joseph Holt brewery itself in Manchester. The beer festival was part of Joseph Holt’s 175th anniversary celebrations. To make it easy for everyone they converted one of the brewery rooms into one long bar. As you can see from the picture it was jam packed full of different beers. There was a lot of choice. It was easy to see what the choices were. They made sure everyone could clearly see what was on offer. And that’s the idea. It’s so easy for us to assume that our existing customers know what we do. The thing is - they probably don’t. And if they don’t know then they can’t or won’t buy. 💥 What can you do to remind your existing customers of everything you do ? 💥 Just like the beer festival… …..reminding them of everything that you offer, might just mean more sales and more cash coming into your business. ❤️ Share if this is helpful 🔥 Follow me on LinkedIn for more content on pricing, profit and creating a better business.

Oktoberfest runs through October 6, and you don’t have to be Bavarian to observe this time-honored tradition. Last year Germans consumed almost 1.7 million gallons of beer at the Munich festival, but restaurants in the United States celebrate in their own fashion. A few last-minute ideas you can try: 🍺 Develop a beer promotion. Create specials around a German beer if you serve one. If not, promote a brand that needs a little love, enticing your guests to try something new. 🇩🇪 For non-beer drinkers, try other options, like a German wine, or a German-inspired food item (Schnitzel, Frankfurter, Bratwurst, Pretzels, etc.). ↩️ Create bounce-back specials for returning guests. (For example, spend a minimum amount on one Oktoberfest item and receive a complimentary beer or wine when you return before the end of October.) Hope this inspires some Oktoberfest revenue uptick at your restaurant. Prost! #RestaurantMarketing #RestaurantCampaigns #BounceBackCampaigns #Oktoberfest
