I can’t help seeing some irony in this statement. “Chip developing subsidiary Sony Semiconductor Solutions installed the cameras, which are about the same size as a digital camera, at 500 undisclosed 7-Eleven locations.” So the cameras are anonymous. We are not. But here’s what bothers me most with this. “While the strategy is said to lead to more purchases by helping connect consumers with products they can immediately buy, it is difficult to measure the effectiveness using data.” So to summarize. This store chain will process and benefit from your existence by using or training AI, and has no idea whether that will be effective in meeting their objectives. Which mean that if it isn’t, the data - and perhaps the entire system - might end up being repurposed. Being realistic, it’s obvious that AI will be a prime tool in physical advertising in the future. That’s most likely unavoidable. But putting out an unproven system that may have unintended consequences (and not even speaking of the infosec concerns) is irresponsible. https://lnkd.in/gd5KzS7s

It's important to point out the similarities to the recent Kantar study, different channels and formats garner different DURATIONS of attention. While both pieces of cited research focused on in-context creative, Lumen Research Ltd has found that when looking at media formats, you will also find differing volumes of attention by channel and format. Finding the optimal amount of attention for your brand will differ from even your closest competitor, as incumbents and challengers need vastly different DURATIONS of attention to obtain the same level of performance and outcomes.
