I always say M&A is a great way to create value but also a quick way to destroy value... I am not too close to this story so not sure if this was bound to happen or integrating into a larger business was the cause... but a good chunk of that $1Bn has been erased. Although not exactly the same if analyzed from the sellers perspective - even when this transaction was paid by issuing stock & some cash ultimately this is more of a transfer of value from uber shareholders to drizzly shareholders. With SHEIN, Reddit, Inc. and others making IPO headlines, will others follow? "A lot of [private] companies that are sitting on the sidelines are waiting for one or two blockbuster IPOs to happen, go well, warm the investor market and encourage others to follow.
