The World’s Best Hospitals in 2024 Four of the top five hospitals in the world are based in the United States, according to a ranking by Statista and Newsweek. Coming in at number one, two, three, four and five, respectively, are Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Toronto General in Toronto, John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland and the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. The Toronto General moved up two ranks this year. Several European hospitals also made it onto the list, including the Charité Universitätsmedizin in Berlin, the Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset in Sweden, and the Hôpital Universitaire Pitié Salpêtrière in Paris. Rounding off the top 10 are the Sheba Medical Center in Israel and the Universitätsspital Zürich in Switzerland. To identify the world's best hospitals, Statista invited over 85,000 medical professionals across 30 countries to a survey. Additional research on patient surveys and hospital performance data was supplied in a joint effort by Newsweek and Statista.

Hospital rankings, such as those by U.S. News & World Report, are significant for hospitals and patients alike. They offer a benchmark for healthcare quality and can influence patient choices and hospital reputation. However, some hospital administrators question the rankings' authority and importance, suggesting a nuanced view of their impact. Creating a healthier future is crucial for communities as it enhances overall well-being, reduces healthcare costs, and fosters a supportive environment for sustainable development. It leads to improved quality of life and longevity for community members. #unitedseniorassociation #USA #eldercare #FDA #seniorliving #ADA #AI #NIH #patientcare #compliance #hospitals #OIG #healthcare #HHSOIG #digitalhealth #HSS #CMS #assistedliving #nursinghomes #seniorcare #medicare #seniorcitizen #homehealthcare #caregiver #dementia #inhomecare #seniorhealth #kloekorby #alzheimers #mentalhealth

The theme for World Health Day in 2024 is My Health, My Right. This is a timely reminder of everyone’s right to access quality health care, including specialist surgical care, when and where they need it. In resource poor countries, general surgeons do an amazing job to provide general surgery to their patients. Where patients require specialist surgery, many countries have the limited and costly option of referring their surgical patients overseas or waiting for a volunteer surgical team to come to assist patients and build the capacity of local surgeons. With support from the Australian Government, through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, RACS Global Health has been deploying specialist surgical teams across the Indo-Pacific region for more than 25 years The 2023 achievements of the RACS Global Health Program in the Pacific demonstrate how RACS is supporting Pacific patients to access quality specialist surgical care when and where they need it. Newsweek has ranked the top 10 "best" general hospitals in the world. They considered 2,400 hospitals in 30 hospitals. 1. Mayo Clinic - USA 2. Cleveland Clinic - USA 3. Toronto General Hospital - Canada 4. The Johns Hopkins Hospital - USA 5. Massachusetts General Hospital - USA 6. Charité–Universitätsmedizin - Germany 7. Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset - Sweden 8. AP-HP - Hôpital Universitaire Pitié Salpêtrière Paris - France 9. Sheba Medical Center - Israel 10. Universitätsspital Zürich - Switzerland These rankings are a bit silly. And I'm probably just ignorant, but it's interesting to see the large presence of non-American hospital brands. 6 of the top 10 are non-US based. What do you think of these top 10?
