As I step away from Berwickshire High School for the next year, I want to congratulate our school community on the superb progress we’ve made together in 4 years. Our school today is unrecognisable from the one that was rated three ‘Weak’s & an ‘Unsatisfactory’ in its 2019 inspection. Recent staff quotes help capture just how far we’ve come: - “Our school ethos is excellent.” - “Behaviour is very good and something we should be proud of.” - “This is by far the best professional learning offer of any school.” - “Staff CPD just gets better and better.” In the re-inspection, inspectors reported: “The quality and consistency of learning, teaching and assessment has improved considerably” and “The school environment now provides a calm, orderly context for learning”. We’ve got to where we are by focusing on the right things, in the right way: 1. The continuous improvement of teaching practice. 2. High-quality professional development, focused on teaching and learning. Supporting both is our ongoing focus on high standards of behaviour across our school. A real team effort, and one everyone involved should feel very proud of.

Propuesta de Integración Futura entre Cambridge College y Bay Path University Con la proyectada integración de Cambridge College a Bay Path University, ambas instituciones se potencian mutuamente, prometiendo una expansión significativa de los programas y servicios ofrecidos, especialmente para la comunidad estudiantil hispana en Puerto Rico y Estados Unidos.  Este esfuerzo conjunto busca consolidar una entidad académica más robusta, ampliando las oportunidades educativas y fortaleciendo el apoyo estudiantil. Este hito representa un momento de celebración y anticipación hacia una influencia ampliada de Cambridge College Puerto Rico más allá de sus fronteras tradicionales.   Durante los próximos años, mientras se desarrollan los procesos de integración, aspectos como el nombre de Cambridge College, su misión, su sistema de otorgación de grados, las cuotas estudiantiles y otros servicios relevantes para los estudiantes de Cambridge College Puerto Rico permanecerán inalterados.  Nuestro prestigio se solidifica con esta propuesta de integración. En los próximos meses estaremos canalizando los procesos de autorizaciones de las agencias concernientes. Les mantendremos al tanto de este proyectado gran paso. An interesting quote from The Curiosity Approach that has got me thinking this week. “Children need spaces and places to thrive” Allowing children the opportunity for them to thrive in their own space strengthens their sense of themselves, their sense of connection to others & the world. Building their confidence. Developing ownership, responsibility & most importantly, allowing them to feel safe, valued & comfortable. School that is traditional is conditional. Systemic barriers inherent in traditional schooling make acceptance of all children almost impossible. We know that all children learn differently so what are we actually doing to acknowledge that in our classrooms? Our teaching? When it comes to the acceptance of all children, does what we do match up with what we want to achieve? One thing I love about being at Regent International School is that no matter where you are, from FS all the way up to secondary, children are given the choice. Children choose places such as the corridors, calm corners, collaborative spaces etc to learn. We work beyond the confinements of classroom walls. We create environment that are conducive to learning and considers the many factors that can impact how effectively children can learn.

I'll never get tired of saying how much Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP) has added to both my professional practice as an advisor as well as my personal mission as a philanthropist and yesterday's "For the Love of Gift Planning" workshop was no different. Great to catch up with colleagues and meet new connections, as well as hear from guest speakers - here's a few things I learned: Malcolm Burrows is not just plugged into the trends in gift planning like nobody I've ever met, but he also makes a mean Powerpoint deck complete with fine art on every slide. I thought I'd be learning about the crossroads we find ourselves in as an industry, left also with a little bit of art history knowledge. Susan Manwaring hates the terms "in perpetuity" and "endowment" and I now know why. Left her session with a new understanding of the importance of gifting agreements, what can go wrong, and ideally how to get out ahead of those issues. Janine Kuzma BA, CFRE and St. Joe's are doing fantastic work with their professional advisory network and I think that model can be replicated for many #charities especially in the #artsandculture sector to help donors be more strategic in their giving. Michelle Osborne, CFRE and Melissa Pang broke down some of the learnings they had from their digital advertising campaign. Apparently the more emotional-based images don't work as well as the practical ones... good to know. Kimberley Blease kept us from the pub... just kidding. Fantastic research, as always, and I was pleasantly surprised to see the inclination of donors to prioritize arts and culture as recipients of gifts in their wills.
