The issue with the current reform of the school year proposal is that there is a lack of evidence that making such a change, right now, will have any educational benefit to learners. At a time with such challenges facing schools - funding, recruitment and retention, delivery of existing reforms like ALN - this simply isn’t a priority for school leaders. NAHT Cymru is committed to engaging in any discussions on proposals that benefit children and young people, but decisions that have such far reaching implications beyond the school gates need to be taken carefully. https://lnkd.in/eKUTpvkU

BREAKING: Australian Secondary Education Takes a Major Step Forward! We are delighted to share that the New South Wales Secondary Principals’ Council (NSWSPC) and the Victorian Association of State Secondary Principals (VASSP) have rejoined ASPA. This historic reunification marks the first time in a decade that all state and territory public secondary school principals’ associations are united through a single national peak body. This unification ensures a cohesive and powerful voice for the leaders of our nation's future – the principals of more than 2200 government secondary and combined schools, who tirelessly serve over one million students. With ASPA's strengthened national influence, the association will be championing: - Needs-based funding to achieve 100% of the Schooling Resource Standard. - Capital investment to rejuvenate ageing school infrastructure. - Research on social segregation in schools and its impact. - Pioneering discussions on the evolution of secondary schooling. - National strategies for principal health, safety, and wellbeing. - Support and sustainability for current and future school leaders. ASPA President Andy Mison emphasized the power of unity, stating that principals now have a "stronger advocate in their corner." NSWSPC President Craig Petersen and VASSP President Colin Axup echoed this sentiment, highlighting the enhanced support and influence this will bring to their communities. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gdg3Unbr NSW Secondary Principals Council Victorian Association of State Secondary Principals (VASSP) Andy Mison #EducationLeadership #ASPA #PublicEducation #SecondarySchools #Australia

#WalthamForestCollege is London borough of Waltham Forest’s first ‘outstanding' #FurtherEducation provider in 2024. This is a better than anyone moment for the college. The college is one among only 15 such colleges in the whole of England. Its extra ordinary achievement also confirm emphatically that Waltham Forest college is a provider who takes students from all backgrounds and give them exceptionally #HighQualityEducation. What is more, achieving outstanding grade in Ofsted inspection demonstrates powerfully to families and future employers’ that teachers at the college could deliver an educational experience that prepares students for life in modern Britain. As everyone knows, getting an outstanding grade requires delicate balancing act and #superhuman level hard work, and maintaining one is even more so. Under the current Ofsted framework, it is common to see a college or school graded outstanding during one inspection cycle and be issued with a "require improvement" the next cycle. So, where does Waltham Forest College go next after such a spectacular achievement? A whole new vision and strategic direction that establishes the college as a global educational brand? That is one possibility. It could also be taken to mean seizing the moment to free teachers to design and innovate approaches that raise educational standards further while pursuing measures that prioritise the needs of both staff and students. After all, what is the purpose of education if not to change people's life and offer them hope for a better future. It is fair to say, organisations that has positive culture, centred on improving the condition of people are best placed to rise to future challenges than those who are not.

"It does no good for policymakers to blithely assume bad student outcomes are evidence only of teacher incompetence or to expect teachers to solve every problem that children bring to school while serving increasingly as the social services provider of first and last resort." Chile has created the "Política Nacional de Convivencia Escolar", and the biggest challenge is to think about how to implement conflict resolution in our #curriculum. They seek to create a guiding framework to promote reflection and dialogue on the ways of relating on a daily basis among those who are part of an educational community; they seek to create the conditions for children, adolescents, young people and adults to learn to live together better and better, to aspire to understand and build a safer #school environment. All schools seek this. But, how to achieve it from the implementation of a curriculum? How do we emphasize conflict resolution from a formative sense? That is to say, every curriculum requires: 1. Justification; 2. Interpretative, argumentative and propositional competencies; 3. Teaching methodology; 4. Evaluation system; 5. Course content and schedule with a general objective, specific objective and expected results. So how do we do it?
