One of the key challenges in achieving gender equality by 2030 is an alarming lack of financing with a staggering USD 360 billion annual deficit in spending on gender-equality measures (United Nations). In addition, according to the World Economic Forum the finance gap for women entrepreneurs is $1.7 trillion despite women entrepreneurs owning 22% of micro-enterprises and 32% of (SMEs). What's a key problem? 740 million women globally are unbanked. This is why Gender Lens is such an important thematic within sustainable finance. 💡 Continue following MSA this week for more team insight into UN Women's "Count Her In: Accelerating Gender Equality Through Economic Empowerment" IWD theme. Senior Advisor, Fouzia Nasreen, touches on the importance of integrating gender-inclusive approaches into research strategy. "Development projects are conducting fantastic field research based on interventions and partnerships. However, in many cases, the women in targeted sectors are forgotten and sometimes excluded in critical research. It is a missed opportunity to identify what constraints women face towards economic engagement in the given context, and how market actors can sustainably address them." #IWD2024 #InspireInclusion #InvestInWomen

In addition to women strategic leadership and communication l needed to grasp in depth content on financial literacy and entrepreneurship. This UNITAR course was a unique opportunity for me to strengthen my understanding on the importance of main streaming these processes in order to get to 2030 with women who are not only great leaders but also financially strong since financial deficit continues to resurface as a great barrier to processes of gender equality and equity. #womeninleadership
