Today's care crisis is profoundly affecting the emotional, mental, physical, and financial well-being of caregivers – including the more than one in five employees who juggle care responsibilities alongside their day-to-day jobs. Next week on Wednesday, July 17, Wellthy’s own Kristin Spodobalski will join Deana C. and Theresa Conti, QKA, APR, ERPA, CPFA, for “A Conversation on Caring for the Caregivers,” hosted by WE Inspire. Promote. Network. (WIPN) Philadelphia. The conversation will dive deeper into the impact of care on today's workforce, share caregiving stories that spotlight how care touches the lives of families, and discuss how care needs show up in today's workforce—especially their impact on women who disproportionately take on care responsibilities alongside their careers. WIPN, a national membership organization founded 15 years ago, is composed of women and “Allies in Action” members who represent all roles in the workplace retirement and financial wellness industry. If you’re in the Philadelphia area on July 17 and want to attend, RSVP here: https://lnkd.in/ewduWAy4

We couldn’t be more proud of HearstLab portfolio company, Wellthy, being the subject of a new report from Harvard Business School. It spotlights a massive win for today’s workforce. 💥 Employers investing in caregiving benefits for their employees are far more likely to see better outcomes such as higher retention, deeper engagement and productivity, and significant impact to DEI efforts — especially as it relates to supporting women in the workforce. The study is the result of years worth of independent analysis into data from care concierge, Wellthy, and their work with more than 100 companies supporting family caregivers. Nearly 3 out of 4 employees have caregiving responsibilities, a number that's set to grow as our population ages. This often silent challenge is reshaping our workforce, and it's time for businesses to take notice. Caregiving has a profound impact on employees and companies alike. It can reduce productivity by up to 18.5%, and almost one third of caregivers have left jobs that didn't support their caregiving needs. The stress is real, with many caregivers reporting their situation as extremely challenging. Moreover, parents caring for children with special needs face additional challenges, which add to the already significant emotional and physical demands of caregiving. Forward-thinking companies are recognizing that addressing this issue isn't just compassionate—it's a strategic advantage in attracting and retaining top talent. Two key approaches are emerging: - Removing the stigma around caregiving and offering job assurance. - Providing financial support and better resources. Companies that support their caregivers are building stronger, more resilient workforces and positioning themselves as employers of choice in an increasingly competitive market. A recent report from AARP reveals a striking reality: More than 70% of family caregivers in the U.S. struggle to balance their career and caregiving responsibilities. In addition: ⏺ 67% of family caregivers have difficulty balancing their jobs with caregiving duties. ⏺ 27% of working caregivers have shifted from full-time to part-time work or have reduced hours, 16% have turned down a promotion. ⏺ 16% have stopped working entirely for a period of time — and 13% have changed employers — in order to meet caregiving responsibilities. These stats underscore the growing need for comprehensive support systems for caregivers, including flexible work policies and robust employee assistance programs. Empathetic and results-oriented sales and growth leader with extensive experience in healthcare segments specific to payers (Medicare Advantage and Medicaid), Home Health, Hospice and Palliative Care.
The implications here within healthcare are significant as well. To truly bend the cost curve, caregivers must be empowered to continue supporting the most costly populations with poly-chronic conditions. Shifting hospital days to home health utilization is one key measure health plans and other risk-bearing groups would recognize.
