But there's an even deeper layer—under the underprivileged—that demands attention. Let's explore the challenges they face: Percy sheds light on the severe Gender Imbalance and Inequality that disproportionately affects women, particularly those with disabilities such as visual impairment. In rural areas, where patriarchal norms are deeply entrenched, these women are more vulnerable to exploitation concerning their rights, property, and wealth. Rigid gender roles further marginalise them, limiting their participation in decision-making processes. He emphasizes the importance of Individual Voices, arguing that within these disadvantaged groups, there are women who, despite their circumstances, find ways to articulate their needs and opinions powerfully. However, many remain silenced, conditioned by societal norms to believe that their voices are inconsequential. From the lack of guidance within the society to the restriction of geographical choices and the limitations of the subjects I could explore, the obstacles have been many. Today, witnessing the shift where countless daughters from the same town are venturing to cities and even abroad to chase their dreams fills me with immense pride. Indeed, observing this transformative journey has been incredible. We have come a long way from conventional challenges and the stereotypes of the past. We have come to an era where the unwavering courage, that WOMEN has exhibited all this while, is paying-off. Your relentless pursuit of excellence and your invaluable contributions to the world can no longer be covered under the carpet. 🌟 Currently Delving into Transformative Research on Grassroots Journalism and Social Change in India 🌟 I’m excited to share that I’m currently working on a research project that explores the transformative impact of Khabar Lahariya , a pioneering grassroots journalism organization, in challenging patriarchal and casteist narratives while empowering Dalit women in rural India. This study is incredibly significant as it delves into how Dalit women journalists at Khabar Lahariya are not just reporting the news, but are actively deconstructing oppressive social structures and advocating for gender and caste equality. By leveraging digital media, these women are amplifying marginalized voices, building communities, and pushing for much-needed policy changes. Understanding the role of grassroots journalism in promoting social justice is crucial, especially in a diverse and complex society like India. The insights gained from this research could offer valuable lessons for activists, scholars, and policymakers committed to advancing a more inclusive and equitable society.
