An estimated 4.6 million Americans are barred from voting due to a felony conviction. Three out of four people disenfranchised are living in their communities, having fully completed their sentences or remaining supervised while on probation or parole. One in 19 African Americans of voting age is disenfranchised, a rate 3.5 times that of non-African Americans. Among the adult African American population, 5.3 percent is disenfranchised compared to 1.5 percent of the adult non-African American population. In Kansas, it doesn't have to be this way: https://lnkd.in/gXjVNRbD

THIS CANNOT BE! Even though this individual was ONLY a California State Senate leader, it will likely be conjectured that, she’s doing it to be relevant again or she must have done something questionable OR there MUST have been SOME way to secretly allege that was (or STILL IS) a Russian or Chinese sympathizer! Now that she’s “gone public” , it WILL BE REVEALED so as to marginalize OR disqualify this move from the “we are perfect” Democrat party to the “toxic and evil, questionable, and unscrupulous Republican Party”! I apologize for my sarcasm above, but as an Independent voter who primarily believes elections need to stay focused on POLICIES, and NOT PEOPLE OR PERSONALITIES, I admit that I AM curios as to whether THIS event will be covered by the mainstream media? According to “unbiased” poll takers about coverage bias, if it’s Democrat focused, it will be 90%+ in FAVOR of that direction. IF IT’s REPUBLICAN IN NATURE, it will likely 90+% NEGATIVE in nature. Given the conspicuous bias FOR the Democrat party and candidates it WILL BE INTERESTING to see WHETHER this is covered, and if so, how it is “spun”! My bet is that is NOT covered by main stream media outlets and, if it is, the elaboration will appear like “damage control” on behalf of the Democrat Party. Please note that, had this been a Republican member of Congress, it would receive a GREAT deal of attention (note the Dick Cheney endorsed of/switch to Harris vs the Robert Kennedy or Gabby Gifford’s switch/endorsement of Trump!) As an Independent voter, I simply yearn for substantive and professional journalism that reports free of propaganda, political spin, reporter bias, misinformation, government influence, conspicuous “echo chamber” efforts (the Republicans are true rookies compared to the Dems on this- although in fairness to the Republicans, it has seemed they have been TOO ideologically/ideally committed to NOT violating THAT BOUNDARY between the government and the press, but have conceded the turf to the Democrats that seem to OWN the press), rhetoric, or even lack of expertise! Bottom line, is the AVERAGE VOTER content to succumb to the propaganda OR are they noticing these same patterns of promotion and relying on trust of the source regardless of political affiliation? Even beyond this election, are “We the people” going to DEMAND A FREEDOM of as well as independent (as also free of government or Party influence)!press?

Political power is only effective when accompanied by economic power.
“As Latino politicians amassed power and numbers over the ensuing decades, however, a curious phenomenon emerged: Latino voter participation began to drop dramatically. To this day, Latinos vote at lower rates than any other race or ethnicity in California. At the same time, nearly every high-quality survey of Latino voters identified jobs and the economy as their top concerns.” “Instead, Latinos are still widely misunderstood as an aggrieved racial minority motivated by immigration, farmworker and border issues. This is one of the most striking blind spots in American politics.” “Fifty-five percent of California families in the bottom 10% of incomes are Latino or Black. By virtually every economic metric, in a state with more Latino elected officials than most, Latinos aren’t doing well.” #latino #vote #economy #first #generation #political #power #california https://lnkd.in/gpucCqTe

One of my favorite things about the Democratic National Convention and the amazing array of speakers is that Democrats are reclaiming patriotism and the American flag. It is long overdue. - Supporting democracy is patriotic. - Encouraging and inspiring voter participation is patriotic. - Promoting freedom is patriotic. - Welcoming immigrants and celebrating how the American story is an immigrant story is patriotic. - Choice is patriotic. - Advocating for a more just future is patriotic. - Believing that the best for our country lies ahead is patriotic. Now is the time to shed our cynicism about politics and governance and to fight for all of the above. Register to vote. Create a voting plan. Fly an American flag. Refuse to cede patriotism to the folks who think our best years are behind us. #democratsdeliver #democratsarepatriots #makeyourvotecount #turnpurpleplacesblue
