We Are All Human Foundation reposted this
The election this coming November is on everyone’s mind. Last night, the #VotaConmigo Campaign got support through a unique collaboration between the We Are All Human Foundation, The Hispanic Star, TelevisaUnivision and the famed Brazilian fashion designer Anne Fontaine. At the #2024PremiosJuventud awards, hosted in San Juan, Puerto Rico, TelevisaUnivision’s news anchor walked the red carpet in a stunning dress that Anne Fontaine designed for the occasion. It was a showstopper. And raising awareness of getting out the vote in the Latino community is critically important. According to Pew Research, this year there are an estimated 36.2 million Latinos eligible to vote — 4 million more than in the 2020 election. That gives us significant impact in local, state and national elections. The Pew Research offers some interesting facts: - We represent close to 15% of all eligible voters, a new high. - Where we live offers a glimpse of the potential impact. California has the largest amount of eligible Latino voters, followed by Texas, Florida, New York and Arizona. - In New Mexico, 45% of all eligible voters are Latino. - Eligible voters in the Hispanic community tend to be younger than other populations, which also is the reason that our total percentage of eligible voters is only half of the Latino population. We are the youngest and fastest-growing demographic. The We Are All Human Foundation was founded with the mission to unify and elevate the Latino community. Our #HispanicStar brand, a design made from the ñ and a star, represents our unique identity as 100% Latino and 100% American. Much of our work has as a goal the increased representation across the private and public sectors. Voting — particularly in a presidential election — is one of the clearest ways we give voice to our beliefs and make a tangible impact on the future direction of the nation. Voting is empowerment. As the youngest population and the fastest growing, voting will increasingly advance our interests. With TelevisaUnivision’s enormous Hispanic audience and the gorgeous creative sensibility of Anne Fontaine, we are showing the golden opportunity voting gives us to be seen, heard and valued. If you have the right to vote, you should exercise it. Listen to the candidates and decide for yourself who will represent you, who will advance your interests. Our lives are affected by our elected officials in many, many ways. Pay attention, listen to their platform, participate in local events when you can. Be informed so you make a decision that is in keeping with your values and your vision for what our country should be like today and in the future. November 5th is not that far off in the future. Arm yourself with the facts, make sure you register and know in advance where you can vote. The next few months will be filled with a great deal of promises. It’s up to you to make a choice. Be part of democracy in action.
Claudia excellent data! Thank you for sharing and for creating this important convening platform. Curious, considering we are becoming a major constituency yet granted not a monolithic group, do you know based on our common values such as being entrepreneurial, family focused and faith based what these candidates have Done to court and earn the Latino endorsement and vote, specifically, regarding issues like ensuring quality lower and higher education and strong economic policies to fuel and scale our growth, if any. I don't know if focusing on immigration, border agendas and policies, while important, are the most pressing priorities to some of us as we strive to compete and pursue the American dream. If so, do you have a way to create a list and database of policies and track record that affect Latinos and American's in general who might share same values the most to share so we can consider or rule out candidates based on data and facts including Trump, Kamala and Kennedy to help nudge more of us to the polls to actually vote?
If you will be inclusive of people like me who have a Latino parent or grandparent, the percentage of Americans who share a Hispanic heritage goes up to about 80%, which is probably more than Americans with Italian heritage. But then again, Italians are Latinos too, having given us the word Latino.
Agree! Hispanics,/Latinos/as need to be unified in invoking their rights as American citizens to vote for the advancement of Hispanics/Latinos in America. Stop the victim mentality and take charge of the opportunities we as Americans have. Si Se Puede!
Texans, remember that you have to register to vote at least 30 days before the election. That means the deadline is Monday, October 7, 2024 for in person and mail registration. See you at the polls!
If every Latin@ votes this coming November, it will show our power in this beautiful nation that opens its arm to all of us!
