The announcement of the added public holiday has sparked a debate about whether or not the public holiday declared to celebrate the victory of the Springboks at the RWC was a good or bad thing for SMEs. On the one hand, the public holiday could enable SMEs to increase their sales through an influx of customers. But it could also adversely affect these businesses by forcing them to pay extra to their staff who work that day or close their operations altogether. What do you think, good or bad?
