🚨 Quiet, please 🚨 Noise pollution is a hidden threat to biodiversity, especially in oceans where sound travels faster and farther 🌊 Target 7 under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework calls on countries to reduce pollution to levels that are not harmful to biodiversity. Canada’s draft Ocean Noise Strategy, although moving in the right direction, falls short of clear, immediate action. Our scientists are raising the alarm. With marine traffic and drilling on the rise, we need more than research—we need proactive steps to protect our quietest ocean environments, like the Arctic Ocean. It’s time for the federal government to act. Visit our website to explore our comments on the strategy in full: https://lnkd.in/eQxznz98 #OceanConservation #Biodiversity #OceanNoise #ArcticConservation #COP16

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲! This day highlights the importance of biodiversity in sustaining our planet and the urgent need to protect and restore it. This year's theme, "Be Part of the Plan," calls on everyone to set goals and take action to halt and reverse nature loss by 2050. 🌿 In Belize, the Climate Adaptation and Protected Areas (CAPA) Initiative is making strides by using nature-based solutions to address water security, protect biodiversity, and support local ecosystems. 🌱✨ Key sites include Glover’s Reef Marine Reserve, South Water Caye Marine Reserve, and the Maya Forest Corridor. International Institute for Sustainable Development , in collaboration with the Wildlife Conservation Society Belize, with support from Global Affairs Canada, is leading this vital work. Together, we can make a difference! 💪🌎 Learn more https://lnkd.in/eX6u6k88 #BiodiversityDay #BePartOfThePlan #NatureBasedSolutions #Belize #Sustainability #CAPAInitiatve

🌊 🌍 February 2nd is World Wetlands Day! On this occasion, we celebrate the outstanding importance of wetlands for nature and people. These special ecosystems offer important contributions to human well-being, biodiversity conservation and nature-based solutions to climate change. At the same time, they are severely threatened by unsustainable human use and a changing climate. There is an urgent need to better protect the few remaining wetlands in Europe and to significantly expand their restoration! The European Network of Nature Conservation Agencies (ENCA) has published concrete recommendations on how to achieve this: https://lnkd.in/evPQyK6a 🌾 👩🌾 🌱 🚣♂️ 🐟 #worldwetlandsday #wetlandsmatter #forwetlands #biodiversity #climatechange #generationrestoration #bioclim2023 Bundesamt für Naturschutz, #ENCA, Convention on Wetlands, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), adelphi, Deutsches Zentrum für integrative Biodiversitätsforschung (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig

Restoring the Great Barrier Reef: A Step Toward a Sustainable Future Australia is making significant strides to revive the Great Barrier Reef, one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet! After facing the devastating impacts of climate change and coral bleaching, initiatives such as coral breeding programs, reducing agricultural runoff, and improving water quality are showing promising results. In 2022, the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) reported the highest levels of coral cover in over 36 years across two-thirds of the reef! Despite recent bleaching events affecting nearly 90% of Australia’s corals, these restoration efforts mark a victory for conservation and biodiversity. The Great Barrier Reef is home to over 400 types of coral, 1,500 species of fish, and 4,000 types of molluscs, along with endangered species like the dugong and large green turtle. These efforts aim to ensure that future generations can witness the beauty and diversity of this incredible natural wonder. Let’s continue to support conservation efforts and protect our oceans for a sustainable future! #greatbarrierreef #australia #coralrestoration #conservation #savethereef #climateaction #biodiversity #sustainability #oceanconservation #planetsustech

Each ecosystem supports the whole, and the balance we rely on is fragile. That’s the mantra behind Benjamin Von Wong’s #BiodiversityJenga installation at #COP16Colombia. Like in Jenga, removing too many blocks—or ecosystems—leads to collapse. Each block of this installation represents an ecosystem we depend on, while the tower stands for the balance we must protect #ForPeopleForPlanet. Supported by SeaTrees this artwork also aims to bring attention to the first marine biodiversity credits—a new way to fund projects for ecosystems like kelp forests, mangroves, and coral reefs. It’s time to restore balance and make #PeaceWithNature. Explore more: https://lnkd.in/guwiw8u9

Engaging with the world’s largest impact based on forest forecasting is imperative to ensure the wellbeing of the planet and our community concern is remaining in the highest priority to understand that the future of forests and green direction should mainly be focused on sustainable development and environmental protection to reduce and help our planet let us say one time togetherly we need more activities and projects that more concern about environment and its healthy ecosystem.
🌲🌳 Happy International Day of Forests! 🌳🌲 Today March 21, we celebrate the lungs of our planet, our majestic forests! 🌍 Forests are vital for biodiversity, climate regulation, and providing homes to countless species. At YCC, we're committed to preserving and restoring our forests for future generations. Through education, leadership, and community engagement, we empower youth to take action for forest conservation. Let's all work together to protect and sustain our precious forests. 💚 #IntlForestDay #YouthClimateConnect #ForestsMatter

WATCH 🎥 How can you measure what life is below water? Take a closer look at our project on monitoring ocean biodiversity. This initiative brings together a number of our partners to help track ocean biodiversity in several locations around the world. Using environmental DNA (eDNA) techniques, we analysed ocean water samples collected in Bermuda and New York and were able to check the local level of biodiversity in those parts of our ocean. For this project we’ve connected NatureMetrics, a company that uses eDNA and can measure biodiversity levels in seawater with the Germany SailGP Team, an elite sailing team for whom we act as a global founding partner. We’ve also involved our friends at Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC), a leading charity dedicated to protecting marine mammals, who connected us with Whales Bermuda and Gotham Whale, local research groups based in Bermuda and New York respectively. Marine biodiversity is increasingly at risk. As investors, we need to pay attention to factors like this because a healthy economy needs a healthy environment. And that includes a healthy ocean. Learn more about our initial findings in our latest CIO report: https://lnkd.in/eWve94eG #sustainability #oceanbiodiversity #wealthmanagement #privatebanking (When investing, your capital may be at risk.)

Our oceans are vital to life on Earth, yet they face numerous threats. Local communities, with their deep-rooted connection to the sea, are emerging as key players in marine conservation. Through traditional practices, sustainable livelihoods, and innovative programs like PHAROS’s Living Labs, these communities are becoming the true guardians of the ocean. Let’s recognise their critical role in protecting marine biodiversity for future generations.
