Rick Beato's recent interview of ABBA's Bjorn Ulvaeus included a lengthy discussion of AI and how it is impacting music. Ulvaeus talks about the challenges of even identifying when it is being used. Hearing someone's voice being sampled, like the experiments with Drake and John Lennon, is one thing. But identifying what the model has been trained on when you are talking about style or melody is another thing. "But the prompt, the instruction to the AI model, that's were you could go, and if there is something in the prompt like 'Abba-like, but with a hint of Queen, sung by Frank Sinatra.' Then you could at least identify who it has been trained on. But how do you then distribute whatever payment comes out of that? This is a huge problem for the music industry." Beato thinks music platforms will someday include AI channels based on musicians and bands. https://lnkd.in/ewHz6FTg #AI #music

My teacher, mentor, and friend, Justin Rosin, answered with something that I needed to be reminded of these days and transpires directly from his own experience when asked about "luck" along his career path. He simply replied "... focus on the positive. That’s your luck. Something may seem unlucky now, but it may mean good luck in the future. You just have to be patient and trust the process. Practice gratitude and compassion, and remember that you are never too good for any job!" 👇 Here is the article if you are curious about what's behind his insight.

Today's track bears resemblance to 'Perpetual Journey' from the 8th, albeit with subtle shifts. Can you distinguish them? Both delve into the themes of time's passage and the evolution of thoughts. How do you perceive it? https://lnkd.in/ewtanu6d

"#AI" in a time where "low budgets," in music productions continue to dominate, "#AI, helps a lot in production, before involving real singers. Personally, I have managed to make it a "dogma," managing to find the right balance between various software and vocal synthesizers. Recently, I took a new test by venturing into an unusual cover and in a language I do not know, "La Flaca." In fact, Spanish pronunciation, like any language has its phonemes and it is not easy to generate an A.I., without clashing with the inflections that the available software imposes, but I would say that in spite of everything, I am coming up with acceptable results. These "efforts" of mine only want to show Dreamtonics, that maybe it would be time to open there mind and make use of "people like us", to credibly enlarge the databases with the addition of Latin languages (Italian, Spanish, etc.), which in world music have substantial relevance. I am a musician and because of this detail, I try to carefully curate, sound, #groove, time and interpretation, because AI is cool, if "human" with musical skills, adds what a machine can never have. Have a good listen and let me know what you think of this.

I haven't introduced myself on here, so figured I'd use the occasion to say hello! My name is Akpanoluo, and I'm a data professional, singer, beatboxer, sound imitator, music curator, and founder of music community Soundshop. I always have way too many ideas swirling around my head, but the last few years they have become more directed and more potent. You can easily find me talking about any of: music, data, the future of business, crypto (I am vocally anti), community, psychology, economics, political philosophy, and history. My primary passion project these last seven years has been Soundshop, in which I host monthly music salon events at the speakeasy of non-alcoholic brand Curious Elixirs. Each month, a curation of three musicians talk about their musical background and one song that they then perform, and follow up with a ten-minute Q&A session with an audience of musicians and music lovers. I am starting to ideate on expanding this into a group-coaching practice. These days, I'm super interested in worker co-operatives, which I believe to be the corner-stone of a more-equitable economy, and the ultimate means by which to resolve the tension between capital and labor. To that end, I've been collecting resources to educate people on the topic, and will share that resource once I get it in an aesthetically appealing format that people can contribute to (Notion). For the last 2.5 years, I got to work at my dream job at Bandcamp as their Head of Data. In that role, I built my first data team, and got to mentor a fantastic group of three reports: a Technical Analyst, a Data Scientist, and a Data Scientist. Bandcamp, however, laid off 50% of their workforce amidst its sale by Epic Games to Songtradr. Disappointment, however, has quickly given way to excitement, as I start exploring what my next role will be, while moving forward the my Soundshop and worker co-operatives resources projects. If you made it to the end, I welcome you to say hello by responding to the following prompt. What's a song that you've been vibing with lately? Feel free to post the name and/or link, and if you're inclined, say one thing you like about it. For me, that song is Joan Didion by Kat Frankie and female vocal group B O D I E S. It popped up in my feed this morning, and will be an inspiration for me when I get to do Circle Singing, an improvised group singing practice that I've been getting involved in lately. Link to the song on Spotify below:
