We’re thrilled to announce the release of our Build-in-Wood guides! 📚 An essential resource for anyone interested in building in timber. The guides are a culmination of four years of work with The Danish Technological Institute alongside a team of experts from across the timber value chain, supported by the EU Horizon Fund. The consortium, co-led by Waugh Thistleton Architects, have produced a series of instructional guides that offer a framework for building in timber. A series of three books, consisting of a System Guide, Component Selector, and Assembly Manual, detail the processes of this new timber building typology, and are aimed at anyone interested in building in wood. We’d like to thank everyone involved in this seminal project, it has been a pleasure to work alongside such a talented and innovative team of experts! Following up with the incredible traction generated by the release of our Build-in-Wood Guides, we’d like to announce the release of BiW's new website and mobile app! This free and inclusive platform hosts networking, knowledge share, and ideas exchange for anyone interested in working with timber, from across the architecture, engineering, and construction industry. We work towards achieving a truly sustainable construction industry by sharing knowledge, learning from one another, discussing challenges and their solutions, and celebrating our successes. The Build-in-Wood community is a collaborative space where everyone is invited to share and learn. Today, the daily operations of the Build-in-Wood Community are managed by the Danish Technological Institute. We're delighted to be shortlisted for the Structural Timber Awards' Timber Icon of the Decade! Our residential project in Hackney, Dalston Works, which was at the time of its completion the world's largest CLT structure, has been nominated for the Timber Icon of the Decade. We're honoured to be nominated alongside architects creating beautiful and intelligent buildings with timber.
