Sustainable Water Solutions in the Great Lakes Region: The city of Joliet, Illinois, is pioneering a $1.4 billion project to address its imminent groundwater depletion by tapping into Lake Michigan's supply through a 65-mile pipeline. This initiative, the largest in Joliet's history, is a collaboration with neighboring communities and highlights a growing recognition of water scarcity issues even in traditionally water-rich areas. The project, supported by various partnerships and funding strategies, is a significant step towards sustainable water management and highlights the need for innovative solutions like water recycling and leak detection to ensure a secure water future. #SustainableWater #GreatLakes #InnovationInWaterManagement https://lnkd.in/gQMsVfGn

Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency was recently visited by the The New York Times! We are proud to be working with an agency focused on creative solutions to challenging environmental projects. “In Pajaro, farmers must pay for the precious resource through a system that creates an incentive to conserve water, and that also raises revenue that goes toward recycling water to use on crops. The system has reduced groundwater usage in the valley by 20 percent and could serve as a model for how to conserve water across the United States.” “I was really impressed with how well this solution actually worked in the Pajaro Valley. I think a lot of it is specific to the conditions of the place, the people and the economy, but it gave me hope that there is a clear, demonstrable solution to this oncoming crisis, if people are willing to face it head-on.” To read the article, click here: https://shorturl.at/bcis0 #tannerpacific #engineering #water #pvwater #newyorktimes #NYT #recycledwater #groundwater #waterresources #santacruzcounty #watsonville #pipeline

As the fastest growing region in the UK, we recycle a lot of water – in fact, over a billion litres of sewage every day! But as the population continues to grow and our sewer networks are processing more human and domestic waste, we’re always looking for more natural solutions. Treatment wetlands are a key part of our vision for the future, following the successful launch of our flagship wetland in Ingoldisthorpe, Norfolk in 2019. Delivered in partnership with NORFOLK RIVERS TRUST, it was the first of its kind in England. Five years on, we took our CEO Mark Thurston to see how much has changed. Now operating as a natural treatment plant for millions of litres of water, these wetlands have become a beautiful habitat and a flourishing haven for wildlife 🌱☀ Currently under review, our 2025-2030 business plan, proposes a record investment of £4 billion to enhance the environment, which includes building more treatment wetlands across our region. There’s a reason Arkansas is called the Natural State. Just look around. You’ll see the beauty from the Ozarks to the Delta and at every little stoplight and crossroads along the way. Ask any landowner in the state what they want their legacy to be, and their answer will include the future of their land. But owning and maintaining land comes with a price. For small and medium-sized landowners, the options are limited, and aggressive timber harvesting alone is often the most accessible solution. Read how NativState works with small and medium-sized landowners in Arkansas and surrounding states to turn their land into revenue from forest carbon credits.

This #WorldWaterDay, Macerich continues to take definitive steps to conserve water across our properties — conserving this precious resource together for tomorrow. Through voluntary water reduction actions, investments in leak detection technology and steps to meet or exceed local regulations and guidelines, we've reduced water use by over 25 million gallons per year since 2021. As a key component of our overall #ESG strategy, our water reduction approach includes portfolio-wide implementation of HydroPoint Data Systems’ WeatherTRAK water management and WaterCompass leak monitoring technologies, as well as the installation of water-saving devices like low-flow fixtures, aerators, timers and automatic shutoffs. We aren’t done yet — our #sustainability initiatives continue to evolve to preserve our collective future. #Macerich #WorldWaterDay #ESG #SaveWater #WaterConservation #WeatherTRAK #WaterCompass #Sustainability

As sure as the sun rises each morning, water flows through every part of our daily life. Without water, the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the business operations, supply chains, and technologies that make Texas the 9th largest economy in the world would cease to exist. While our ingenuity as Texans is infinite, our natural resources are finite. The actions we take now have the power to shape our state’s future. That’s why we started #TxWAC (Texas Water Action Collaborative) to accelerate investments in conservation projects that benefit water quality, volume, and resilience. To date, over $3.4 million in funding has been a result from our customized project-matching services between business and conservation groups! Find out more about how we’re securing Texas’s water future: https://lnkd.in/g8xAxx_6 Happy #WorldWaterDay 💧💙

Glad to be supporting Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District on examining the potential for carbon finance to add to Yahara WINS! From their just-published 2023 Annual Report: "The District is working with Virridy, a company working to quantify climate benefits of avoided technology construction. Through Yahara WINS, wastewater utilities are avoiding the significant greenhouse gas emissions associated with building tertiary treatment, like advanced filtration systems, to remove phosphorus. These avoided emissions can be quantified and certified as credits to be sold on the voluntary carbon market." https://lnkd.in/gv7qHGaj
