The University Relations and Media teams enjoyed their time in Phoenix with our partners from NIRSA for their 2024 conference. In addition to connecting with hundreds of new friends at our Expo booth, Grayson Hopp led an educational session where she moderated a discussion around Generating Revenue through Sponsorship with panelists from Virginia Tech, North Carolina Central University, University of Washington, and Kennesaw State. 115 engaged audience members from campuses across the US and Canada listened in as we talked through how they can create opportunities for brands to meaningfully integrate into their recreation and wellness facilities.

Start planning your school's end-of-year events with clear goals. Reflect on whether you want to celebrate student achievements, build community, and have fun. This understanding is key to organizing an event that fits your purpose. Involve students and teachers in the planning for a sense of ownership and relevance. Consider forming a student-led committee or using surveys to gather input. End-of-year events can be different things, depending on what your school likes and what you have available. Here are some choices: a. Awards Ceremony: Give out awards to celebrate great achievements in and out of class. Think about making special awards to honor all sorts of skills and efforts. b. Talent Show: Let students show off their skills in a talent show. It's a fun way for them to share their talents and entertain everyone. c. Field Day: Organize a day with outdoor games, sports, and activities that build teamwork. It's good for fitness, friendship, and fair competition. d. Graduation Ceremony: If you have students graduating, put together a ceremony to celebrate this big step. Make it serious but joyful, with speeches, diplomas, and the traditional caps and gowns. The FOMO is real. I'm seeing this list of events expand and crossing my fingers that I can get to something outside of LA this year. 🤞 If you're planning an event, please do add it! (So that, selfishly, I can put it on my calendar. 😁 ) #community #cmgr #communitystrategy

Executive Producer, Live Content at Zillow 🎉 Event Production Enthusiast 🏆 Smart Women in Meetings Innovator winner 💁🏻♀️ Vegas recommender
One of my goals this year is creating DEIA guidelines for our events at Zillow. This is something I'm passionate about personally and has been more on my mind since the launch of theneuproject.com a few years ago. There are a few things I'm keeping top of mind: - How can we anticipate what others may need and want to feel included? The onerous shouldn't be on the individual to request accommodations. - What are ways we can offer options so people can select what is best for them? Let's make it personal! - It doesn't have to happen all at once. Small things can make a BIG difference. Thinking through options doesn't cost anything but does take effort and awareness. I'm excited to take this first step, to see what I discover, and implement new options to help make our events more inclusive and accessible. What are ways you're seeing DEIA embraced in the Events industry?
