Clare Staples was an entertainment producer in Los Angeles when she learned about a decades-long dispute involving the plight of wild mustangs. The controversy centered on whether wild horses should run free in western states. Advocates said herds should run free on federal lands, while ranchers complained the feral horses ruined grazing fields that are shared with cattle. Staples was immediately and firmly in the “run free” camp. With help from her husband, Staples started a nonprofit in 2016 and began taking in mustangs that were rounded up by the Bureau of Land Management, posting stories about them on Facebook and Instagram.

Have a lot of pumpkins left over from halloween? According to Better Homes & Gardens, here are great ways to recycle your carved Halloween decoration. 1) Most pumpkins can be consumed by eating toasted pumpkin seeds or creating a puree from the insides. 2) Donate your pumpkin to places like zoos, animal shelters, farms or community gardens. 3) Feed the wildlife by turning your pumpkin into a bird feeder by hanging it from a tree filled with bird seed. 4) If you have a compost pile, throw that pumpkin right in. (Just take the seeds out to prevent growing baby pumpkins). #Wagnerrealty #wagnerrealtyrentals #recycle #pumpkins #recyclepumpkin

Pumpkins can be *fatal* to wildlife like hedgehogs, and it can take our Place Teams a long time to clear them up to get rid of them safely. If you’re not sure what to do with your Halloween pumpkins, they can be: 🎃 Composted at home – Make sure seeds and any painted/waxy bits are removed beforehand 🎃 Bird feeder - Recycle the tough outer skin to make a temporary bird feeder for your garden. Make sure to remove the feeder when the pumpkin starts to rot. 🎃 Seeds - These can be harvested and sprinkled for wildlife to eat. 🎃 Placed in your general waste bin 🎃 Pass it on - See if you can donate leftover pumpkins to animal shelters, farms, or community gardens. Please do not: ❌ Dump in local woodland or parks ❌Leave on the ground for wildlife.

Lightbulb moments - - those experiences where you suddenly “know the answer” … “understand a complex, troubling problem”, or “meet someone who becomes an important friend/connection”…. I’ve experienced them throughout my life… more good than bad .. but all lifechanging. The following is related to animal rescue. Trust me – I have many personal and professional experiences as well. I grew up in rural Wyoming. Farmers and ranchers grew what the market demanded. Farmers grew wheat and ranchers raised cows, pigs or sheep. Animal rescue is a tax exempt business. At the moment there’s a limited demand and huge supply. So businesses survive if they have a demand and there’s a supply to meet that demand. Conversely, businesses fail if there is no demand for their product. The following was my “lightbulb” experience. Most recently, in exchanged emails with a friend, I was venting my frustration for the phrase “nonprofit business” as it relates to animal rescue. He said his wife referred to it as “tax exempt business”. The lightbulb came on and, soon after, I used the new terminology with a passionate animal rescue friend and it worked. These are some animal rescue Oklahoma challenges that need lightbulb solutions. Regardless of which category – at the end of the day they are a business with an oversupply of animals and a very limited demand Municipal shelters are required, by law, to accept unwanted animals within their city limits. Nonprofit shelters can (and usually do) say no when they are at capacity – not only in their shelter, but also with their foster home brigade. Nonprofit rescues say “yes” to as many as they have foster homes available. As a member of a “closed” Facebook page, I kept a tally on 3 different days, of the number of dogs dumped throughout rural Oklahoma. Double digits every day. The lowest number was 50. The highest – unbelievable. We have an oversupply for a limited market. It’s solvable. #animal #animalrescue #nonprofit #animalshelter #lightbulb #solve #collaboration #dotherightthing #abandoned #homeless

How you can help hedgehogs! 🦔 🐾 Spring is here in Cornwall and most hedgehogs are awake from hibernation so here is a quick guide on what you can do to help them… 🐾 Create a hog hole or hedgehog highway so they can access your garden 💦 Put out a shallow dish of water 🍃 Check the area carefully for hedgehogs before carrying out any garden works such as strimming 🏠 Create a shelter or nest box - they are used year round, not just for hibernation 🐶 Check the garden after dark before letting dogs out if you regularly see hedgehogs, or take the dog out on a lead 🚙 Take care when driving after dark, hedgehogs will often walk along quiet roads and verges 🌱 Let areas grow wild along garden boarders and look at plants that attract insects and bug life 🔥 Move bonfires on the day of lighting to ensure no hedgehogs are nesting within it 🐸 Make ponds safe by adding a ramp or easy exit for hedgehogs, they are good swimmers but need a gradual slope to exit 💸 Support your local rescue, donate, share and engage with their social media or volunteer Please share and help raise awareness. Hedgehogs are classed as VULNERABLE TO EXTINCTION, we need to act now 🫶🦔🐾 #hedgehog #wildlife #wildlifeconservation

Leading up to the auction, we are introducing you to each of these worthy charities which are near and dear to Geoff. When you bid on items in the auction, you can feel good knowing that you are also helping support these inspiring nonprofits that are working hard to do good in the world! Geoff says, "As I did last year, I will donate a significant part of auction proceeds to children's, wildlife & animal rescue, and educational charities that are making a difference on our big asteroid called Earth." TODAY'S FEATURED CHARITY: Keepers of the Wild Keepers of the Wild is an accredited nonprofit wildlife sanctuary located in Valentine, Arizona. Christ driven influencer, thought leader and advocate for a "Reverence for Life" , the ethos that is the love of Jesus bestowed liberally and universally. Blogger and Author of the For Our Friends the Animals quartet.
#zoos #animalparks #anthropocentrism #wildlife #sanctuary #stewardship #life #love #reverenceforlife #loveofJesus The Problem: "controversial Idaho bear park is duping visitors into thinking it is a conservation charity and is only pretending to keep its animals for life, campaigners have claimed." The Explication: "But guests who pay $75 for the privilege are being tricked into thinking they are contributing to a ‘fundraiser’ for a non-profit ‘wildlife sanctuary’ that is actually an exploitative commercial operation,...." The Stated Objection: The inconsistencies between [park's] claim to provide life-long care for all cubs and the reality at the facility have not gone unnoticed by consumers,’..." Underlying Issue: "Idaho agreed to abolish state oversight of private zoos and drive-through animal parks last year in response to a campaign led by the park." Let's Get Real: These parks exist and thrive because of human patronage. Our desire to be amused by God's creatures creates the situations in which such creatures are forcibly bred, confined, restrained, ill-treated, and ultimately dispatched when no longer capable of being a profit center, of adding to ROI. Our sacred commission is to serve as stewards to all God's creatures, enhancing and facilitating their existences by permitting them to live as God and nature intended, following their proclivities ands predilections, not ours.

1wThe obvious thing in certain instances in terms of natural rights and as the editorial reads are federal lands in terms of wild species and those that the colonizers left free must be respected and considered or declare nature reserves and parks and that the ranchers seek their comfort elsewhere, It is enough to destroy the ecosystem by the feudal lords
