It's January 2024 already, which means that there's only 3 weeks left to take part in our Queering Public Space research project! In collaboration with the University of Westminster, we have been working to improve our understanding of #lgbtq people's experiences of public space to help create inclusive and welcoming spaces for the intersectionally diverse communities that live and work in our towns and cities. You will be asked about your perception of safe and inclusive spaces, before being placed into six 360° environments where you can listen and pan around a public space and tell us what works - and what doesn't - for you. 5 things funders should not carry over to 2024 1. Not funding board meetings and office spaces but would require you to prepare for site/office visit or to illustrate what your governance model or systems are and how engaged the board is within the organization. 2. “Proposals are only accepted in English” when your call is targeted globally 🙄 3. “Forcing” organizations to collaborate or be in consortium. 4. Asking LGBTQ groups for registration documents but your funding thematic area is to promote freedom of association. 5. 5 years audit report, but you’re targeting community based organizations! I’m yet to wrap my head around “if your annual budget is not up to $500,000 you’re not eligible to apply” Feel free to add yours! One last one; Not getting back to organizations on the status of their application or reaching them after one year to say they’re successful but not giving them an option to revise budget and activity.

Engagement fatigue gets too real but with Arup and Westminster names attached to it, this report is likely to actually land on many urban designers desk(top)s! Help to queer inclusive design 🌻
