Waking up today, our oldest son is now the same age and in the same grade that I was in 23 years ago, on September 11, 2001. It’s a humbling moment to reflect on how much has changed—and how much has stayed the same. On this day of remembrance, I pause to honor the lives lost, the bravery displayed, and the unity we felt as a nation in the face of tragedy. The memories of that day still stir deep emotions, but they also remind me of the importance of empathy and compassion in the world we’re shaping for the next generation. As we continue to grow and learn, it’s important to carry forward the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We live in a world that is more connected than ever before. Our differences—whether in background, culture, or perspective—should be celebrated, for they make us stronger and more resilient. Today, let’s honor those we lost by building a future where every voice is heard, where compassion leads, and where we stand together, united in the hope of a more just and inclusive world.

Major props to one of the giants of ResProp Management, Angela Aguilar, celebrating her five-year anniversary with our team!  👉 Angela is a standout leader in so many ways. Most importantly, she’s a servant leader – she’s always hyper-attentive to the needs of the teams she leads, and digs in to help them get the work done – never afraid to dive deep and help push things forward. 💥But Angela is also a fierce competitor.  Think about the affect Michael Jordan had on anyone who played on the same court–he elevated everyone’s game. On Michael’s court, you can't just show up and play–you come and give it your ALL. 👉 Same with Angela – when she commits to anything, it instantly motivates the team and suddenly they find a new gear to complete something that was previously unreachable. It’s a pleasure to work with you Angela – it’s been great fun (with a huge dose of HARD WORK) to build out ResProp with you.  Last word here – Angela’s work ethic is unmatched. You literally have to peel her away from her work. This passion is infectious and again, is something that motivates everyone around her. Powerful Poem that I was introduced to by a speaker of the Zoomer Generation at the Blacks in Government (BIG) Regional Training conference in North Charleston, SC. For me it is a reminder that the work will continue to transform and evolve past the barriers of exclusion. This is vital to ensure that our national security and the workforce are better prepared to address the challenges of the future now. Here is the Poem by Charles Bennafield "I Am Diversity, Please Include Me I ‘m present in every place you go Depending on your lens I’m friend or foe I’m a force to be reckoned with Like the winds of change I move. I’m swift. I’m present when two or more are together If embraced I can make the good even better. I’m not limited to age, gender, or race. I’m invisible at times and yet all over the place. Don’t exclude me due to a lack of knowledge Welcome me like the recruit fresh out of college. Let me take my seat at the table Even though I may be differently able My experience, my passion the authentic me Can help add value for your company. Learn about me; improve my underrepresentation And I can provide a competitive edge to your entire nation. I exclude no one I am strengthened by all My name is Diversity and yes I stand tall. I’ve been thinking about the importance of the journey, rather than the destination, but is it not the people with us on our journey who make it all worthwhile. We had an important meeting on Friday, I was with colleagues, a team. It was part of the journey that would hopefully lead to the desired outcome. It was the people I was with that made it a unique experience. Trust in each other. Diversity. Knowledge pooled together, creating a dynamic team. People that support, challenge and inspire. Constructive feedback. Those people we meet on the journey that leave a lasting impression. Shaping of our experiences and memories. Assisting us to become the best versions of ourselves. The sense of community and shared purpose. Making it memorable and worthwhile. Celebrate the journey, always respectfully, with those who care. They are the ones who make the journey extraordinary. And the results meaningful and significant. And on our continent we should always assist in creating meaningful journeys for others.
