What two weeks it’s been! I had the chance to co-host roundtables with ROSEMARY MCCOLLIN and David Page at two major industry events: British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA) summit and the 7th Private Equity Forum hosted by Markets Group . It was wonderful reconnecting with industry friends and peers and attending several side events outside the conferences. I also had the opportunity to form new connections and build on existing relationships. The sessions at both events were filled with valuable insights into the latest trends and challenges facing our industry, making these two weeks not only productive but deeply thought-provoking. I especially enjoyed our roundtable discussions, where we tackled the operational challenges that funds are currently facing. From navigating increasingly complex tax regulations and the growing regulatory burden on GPs to the time pressure these issues place on middle and back-office teams, the conversations were eye-opening. We also explored the role of technology and the shift toward outsourcing to streamline operations in response to LP scrutiny. The number of active VCs in Europe fell by more than 50% PitchBook data shows that in the past year, just 906 European VC investors have made two or more global deals—less than half of the 1,955 investors recorded in 2023. We can take this as good news for the ecosystem moving forward, as this means VCs are sitting on cash waiting to be deployed.
