How much parking is available around the venue ? How wide are the concourses in the arena ? How big are the jumbotrons or scoreboards ? How much of the teams' history of memorabilia is shown in an arena ? How many luxury suites does a venue have ? Do venues have standing room only sections ? Streamer Shows One Way Struggling Shopping Venues Get Repurposed✏️ Netflix Attempt to Move Beyond Screens Relies on This Empty Mall Department Store, By Linda Moss, CoStar News, March 26, 2024 Streaming giant Netflix plans to transform a vacant Lord & Taylor store into one of its first brick-and-mortar entertainment venues, putting on view the latest type of repurposing across the country of defunct department-store mall locations. The Los Gatos, California-based company said it will turn the 120,000-square-foot space at the King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania into what it's calling Netflix House. The site will include ticketed and non-ticketed experiences for the public, "themed around the Netflix shows most beloved by fans," as the firm put it in its application to Upper Merion Township officials. Netflix House seeks to include permanent retail and food-and-beverage space, a theater, escape rooms, mixed reality games, live events, and other activities. Former anchor stores in U.S. malls are being repurposed for use by not only expanding retailers but for healthcare facilities, housing and entertainment venues, so-called experiential retail that offers visitors activities to engage in. The King of Prussia mall is owned by Simon Property Group, one of the retail landlords around the country that has been reinventing its properties as mixed-use centers with varied tenant rosters.

In the 1980s videos were supposed to bring about the end of suburban cinemas. Instead cinemas boomed, because people have a basic human need to be with people - to go out - and because more product was created to serve the video industry (& cinemas). Then DVDs came and that was supposed to be the end. I know this has been said many times before but if there's one thing you can bank on, it's that change is the constant when it comes to retail property. The evolution continues. What's next?
