Recently, I came across an announcement from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) that caught my attention. The AACN released guidance that emphasizes the crucial role of direct care nurses in all aspects of staffing. Among the various points highlighted in the guidance, one that particularly resonated with me was the idea that staffing plans should be designed to prioritize the health of the work environment.
