"____ need community, too." This is becoming a major theme for us. In this case, we are talking about musicians and music-adjacent creative folks. Writing, producing, performing, selling, distribution... all these activities can take place in solitude. But what if they didn't have to? What if you had access to other creative folks and their best ideas? That's what will happen inside The CMPND NC (The Compound) in Winston-Salem. For cities to stay competitive, developing the night time economy and quality of life for its residents, the role of music and musicians needs to be understood and supported. As identified by the Observer last weekend, the threat of "rock'n'roll theme parks" is real... Camden, and places like it, need active pipelines to develop new talent and musicians, and to do this, the economic conditions for creativity to flourish need to be inclusive and accessible. Cheap and free rehearsal space, affordable housing, and grassroots music venues which are viable all create these conditions. Young audiences are different. Business models and costs of operating venues are changing dramatically. For Camden, it's crucial that the next generation of the grassroots music ecosystem is cultivated - rethinking the role of music in society and how this can be sustained needs to happen organically, from the ground up. Our work on London Borough of Camden's new Evening & Night-Time Strategy identifies the next steps in this evolution, sourcing spaces for grassroots activity and empowering communities to access them. #camdentown #nighttimeeconomy #grassrootsmusic #camden #livemusic

In a post to mark #MentalHealthAwareness Month during May, Courtney Lang writes, "Musicians face a multitude of difficult challenges such as ... the pressure to constantly create and innovate, infringers trying to steal their creativities, and the unpredictable nature of the music industry. But by prioritizing self-care and seeking support from friends and professionals, [they] can better navigate the ups and downs of their careers." United for Change: Elevating Creators' Rights Let's rise together and demand change in the music industry! Bandlab can be the turning point where we say enough is enough. Let's manifest a future where creators are valued, respected, and fairly compensated. Share your voice, share your story, and let's unite for a brighter tomorrow. Prioritizing profits over people's well-being is unacceptable. Knowing that our actions will harm millions of people and still choosing to proceed for personal gain is immoral, unethical, and unconstitutional. Let's stand together for what's right and demand better from ourselves and those in power. #MoralsMatter #EthicsInAction #UniversalTruths #OnlineOffline #ResponsibilityReigns #PeopleOverProfit #EmpathyMatters #DoNoHarm #ChangeNow #FairnessInMusic #CreatorsUnite" #FairnessInMusic #UniversalTruths"

🎸TODAY IS AUSMUSIC T-SHIRT DAY!🎸 Do you listen to music? Have you ever listened to music in your life? Have you heard of music? This information is for you! Ausmusic T-Shirt Day is a day to celebrate Aussie music and raise urgently-needed funds for music workers. The money raised will go directly to Support Act, which helps every person in the music industry doing it tough. For more information and to donate or buy merch visit https://lnkd.in/e959X3gh To put my money where my large blabbermouth is I'll be buying 12 x $10 albums in December for the 12 days of Christmas, and for both my birthday and Christmas in December I'm asking all my friends and family to buy 1 x $10 album from a musician they like instead of gifting me anything. I'll post the albums I buy in the New Year. I love checking out new bands, so let me know in the comments below if there's any you think I should check out as part of the 12 days. 🥁🎹🎙🎷🎻🎺 Financial times are tough right now so if you aren't able to donate you can do to help musicians receive livable incomes in the modern era: FREE - Play music 24/7 in whatever streaming service you use whether you're listening to it or not. More streams = more money for musicians FREE - Follow artists on their social media accounts, subscribe to their YouTube accounts, watch and interact with their posts. The bigger audience a musician has, the more chance of getting paid sponsorships and brand collaboration. FREE - pre-save new music when musicians announce they're releasing it. Often they'll post about specific links or places where you can pre-save. CHEAP - Buy electronic copies of albums online (eg Bandcamp). Most local and small artists have their albums for $10, which is less than 2 takeaway coffees. Did you know the average payment to a musician per stream is $0.005 and it takes about 2,000 streams for musicians to make the same $10. MORE EXPENSIVE - Buy physical cds/records, buy merch, send musicians a coffee (if they have a coffee account), subscribe to Patreon account, buy tickets and go see them live! Australia has so many amazing musicians, let's make sure they can keep doing their art 🤟

Retail Management / HR related/ Diversity, Equity and Inclusion 'sharingmusic, discoveringstories, buildingcommunities'
The music industry has a big impact on culture and society, so it’s essential to ensure it’s inclusive and representative of all voices. Unfortunately, certain groups have historically dominated the industry, making it less diverse, authentic, visible, innovative, and equitable. This has resulted in underrepresented communities facing systemic barriers to entry, making it difficult for them to succeed. #diversityequityinclusion #musicindustry https://lnkd.in/gxFG2NBc

💡 "A more sincere approach is to integrate children into traditional concert offerings. As I mentioned in my previous post and referenced from Joe Patti’s insightful blog, bringing kids to regular orchestra concerts increases the likelihood of their return as adults. This data underscores the importance of including children in the authentic concert experience rather than creating separate, watered-down versions for them. 🎫 Offering free tickets for kids with paying adults wasn’t just a gesture of goodwill; it was a strategic investment in the future of symphonic culture. By removing financial barriers and risk for parents and welcoming children into the concert hall for regular symphonic concerts, orchestras can cultivate a new generation of music enthusiasts while addressing broader societal issues such as diminishing music education and the struggle to engage younger audiences. In the ever-evolving landscape of classical music, we often overlook a fundamental principle: the importance of empowering our future patrons—the children. In a world where attention spans are shrinking (for all age groups) and cultural engagement is waning, it’s time for orchestras to embrace a new approach that values the innate curiosity, creativity, and imagination of young audiences along with the older ones." 🎯 #freetickets #kids #concerts #data #symphony #orchestra #newgen #empower #empowering #lowhangingfruit #creativity #imagination #winwin #leadership #planning #strategy #obvious #opportunity #children #families #family #whynot Read the full article here:
