Well done to #madfest24 for a great set of talks in the Female Leaders Club this pm. Here are a few snippets that resonated with Publicis Groupe ‘s Claire Meadows : Stefanie Sword-Williams FRSA (she/her) talk, and mindset. 💫For galvanising people (not just women) to be less modest, even if selling yourself feels cringy 💫to remember that “If you don’t take up space, someone else will take your place- don’t wait to be invited, invite yourself. 💫stop entertaining fictionalised narratives, we can be our own worst critic. Katie Street and the panellists Lisa Paasche and Seb Randle discussing the importance of male activists, not just male allies ☝️ they highlighted the need for men and women to speak up when they see or hear bad behaviours - to themselves or others. Not just to stop the behaviour but to increase understanding and awareness of what is ok and what is not ☝️it might not be easy to call it out, but people need to understand if they say something that makes you feel crap 💩 it’s not ok. ☝️many times it might not be unintentional - which is why it’s worth the conversation. Thank you for a great set of talks we wish we had time to see them all!

Stronger Together: Celebrating Women Who Lift Each Other Up In a world where competition is often glorified, it’s easy to forget the true power that lies in collaboration and mutual support. But let me tell you, sisters—competition is dead. The real magic happens when we come together, collaborate, and contribute to one another’s dreams. This picture you see here isn’t just a snapshot; it’s a testament to what women can achieve when we unite our strengths. It captures the spirit of collaboration, the essence of sisterhood, and the unstoppable force we become when we support one another. When I first shared my vision of staging the Black River Film Festival (https://lnkd.in/eepxGFpK), I was met with skepticism by many. But there was one woman who wasn’t afraid to stand with me, coach me, and guide me through every step of the journey—Jackie Jacqueline Jackson, Jamaica's incredible Film Commissioner. Jackie didn’t just offer advice; she poured her heart into helping me bring my vision to life. Her support was unwavering, her guidance invaluable, and her belief in me, unshakeable. Jackie, I want you to know how deeply I love, respect, and honor you. Your mentorship was more than just professional—it was personal. You reminded me that when women support each other, there’s nothing we can’t achieve. You are the embodiment of what it means to be a true leader, a sister, and a friend. Thank you for standing by me, for believing in my vision, and for helping me turn a dream into reality. To all the women reading this, let this be a reminder: We are stronger together. Let’s lift each other up, celebrate one another’s successes, and be the support system that we all need. Collaboration and contribution are the new currency—let’s spend it wisely. #StrongerTogether #WomenSupportingWomen #CollaborationOverCompetition #BlackRiverFilmFestival #Gratitude #Empowerment #JackieJackson #WomenInFilm #Sisterhood #Inspiration

One thing I love about cozy mysteries? Most of them feature women as the main characters–and they are the detectives, the masterminds and the heroes of their own narratives. As we enter Women’s History Month, I love to think about the women voices who have made literature, and especially the mystery genre, what it is today. And about the other women who had their voices muted or obscured by the prevailing narratives of their time. In the work I do, I love to watch more women take ownership of their creativity and their self-expression. Women, in particular, often face unique challenges in finding their voices and asserting their stories in a world that can be indifferent or even hostile to their perspectives. But through mentorship and guidance, I see them reclaiming their narratives, embracing their creativity and creating their own paths with confidence and purpose. This month–and all months–we must celebrate the achievements of the women who have paved the way for us but also commit ourselves to amplifying the voices of those whose stories have yet to be told. We need to recognize that every woman contributes to our collective human experience. Let’s celebrate resilient, creative, empowered women on ALL the days. 💪

Today is International Women's Day. I originally had a post planned with lots of statistics about women in the workforce, how women are perceived and treated, and how inequitable so many things still are. I realized we know all of that. Instead, I want this post to focus on solutions. I'm starting with my TEDx talk about Banishing the Miss Congeniality Complex. So many women are forced to focus on others instead of themselves, and take on roles that often move them away from getting the recognition and having the impact that they deserve. I go over three solutions to those problems in this talk. Make sure you are: ✅ Creating and sticking to your list of non-negotiables. ✅ Saying yes to the things that align with your goals and know to the things that don’t. ✅ Giving sponsors the joy of sticking your praises. This talk introduces you to how to do each of those, but the full version of the talk gives you all of the detail you need. Reach out if you want to follow in the footsteps of Women in Music, Dollar General, and so many other organizations who have brought this to the women of their workforce. #internationalwomensday
