#WeeklyTechNews ⬇ 🚨 Apple became the first major tech firm charged under new DMA rules, facing a potential fine of up to 10% of its annual global revenue or $38B based on 2023 figures. EU regulators found Apple's App Store "steering" policies violate competition rules under the Digital Markets Act and are additionally investigating if Apple is undermining alternative iOS app stores. 🤖 Baidu, Inc. launched Ernie 4.0 Turbo, an upgraded version of its AI model, as its user base hit 300M. The model will be available through web and mobile app interfaces, allowing developers to integrate the technology via Baidu’s Qianfan AI platform. 🚀NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration chose SpaceX to develop the U.S. Deorbit Vehicle, a spacecraft tasked with safely disposing of the International Space Station by 2030. This $843M contract marks a significant development as plans for new commercially owned space stations grow momentum. 💬 Amazon plans to launch an AI chatbot named "Metis" in September, aiming to compete with ChatGPT. When prompted, Metis will provide current textual information in a conversational manner, along with images. 📉 NVIDIA's stock fell 15% since June 20, losing nearly $500B in market cap after becoming the most valuable company on June 18. Its CEO, Jensen Huang, recently sold $95M in shares.
