Finally, in March 2023, I passed the internal selection process to become a Cabin Crew Manager, the position I hold today. ✈️ What is your favorite French Bee destination? Without hesitation, it's Miami! 🏝 What would you recommend doing in this destination? Personally, I love strolling along Miami Beach, enjoying the beach, brunching at Maison Versace, or admiring the murals in the Wynwood district. The choice of activities is endless in this city, so you're bound to find something to do that appeals to you. 🤩 What advice would you give to those considering a similar career? You'll sometimes be faced with situations that require you to know how to manage stress, make decisions quickly or even keep a smile on your face in all circumstances. Be curious, empathetic and open-minded - all qualities that will make you an excellent crew member. One last piece of advice: before applying to an airline, build up your professional background by having one or more experiences in customer service - you'll undeniably increase your chances of success. Ever wonder why someone would leave an exciting cabin crew position at Ryanair? I get asked this all the time! 🚀✈️ Originally, it was my dream to be in aviation because of my love for traveling and flying. The 6 weeks of intensive training were the best part of my journey, as I got to meet so many incredible people. It truly solidified my love for connecting with others. At Ryanair, I met different crew members and passengers every day, which set me up perfectly for my current role. Handling diverse situations, including dealing with occasional aggravation, honed my ability to meet new clients and maintain strong relationships. However, I realized that my true passion lies in building relationships that lead to tangible results—generating clients and retaining candidates. With the commission I earn in recruitment, I can still fulfill my travel dreams while achieving financial success. My drive to secure this job and get through the 6 weeks of grueling training demonstrates my determination. I will always fight for what I want. In reference to my previous post on professional maturity cum ageism, I would like to give kudos to United Airlines! They were way ahead on how they have considered "age" as a nuisance. I clearly recall when I applied for a Cabin Crew position during their hiring in Hong Kong wayback 1996; the opening line of the recruitment officer was, at United Airlines we do not care if you are 18 or 80 as long as you can execute the job that is expected of you and can lift that exit window/ door during an emergency qualifies you to be part of our airline. Talk about countering ageism - it was more on the "person's" totality that they seek, and these are the attitude current airlines aesthetic driven signature seems to miss out these days. As an industry practitioner, I seriously encourage all organizations to be proactive with the times, the physiological ageing of the human race has tremendously changed for the past 50 years whereas people at ages 60 and even older are basically in possession of the physical ability and capacity of a person in their 40s. So let us rewire and reboot our manpower guidelines and optimize the potential wisdom of the workforce that are often than not, outrightly set aside for possessing the age deemed as "old" #justsaying #thoughts #professionalassessment

🎉 My #HSR "Health & Safety Representative" journey, years 2018 to 2024 at Airways New Zealand and Airways International Ltd (AIL), saw us through the pandemic and many more. 💘 A special thanks to our #Airways "Safety and Assurance" team for their leadership, advisements, mentorship and koha - Kim Nichols, Shelly Sydney, Becca Hughes, Greer Alsop, Jody Henry over the years. Thank you for looking after HSRs across the country, so we in turn, can look after our teams effectively. And to my colleagues who have trusted in me for my care over the many years, thank you. (I'm going to miss the yearly Christmas chocolates.) 🚶♂️ Stepping down this year, I've taken that notch up from being a HSR into #Coaching, where the same values apply. Here I am, playing a more active part in the workforce offering my skillsets, directly influenced by my role as a HSR to make the world a better place. 🌍 I recall in my 2023 Airways H&S Conference trip report, reflections I've written/referenced: ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ "Attitude is everything! The longer we live, the more we realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, physical strength or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we embrace for that day. We cannot change the past; we can only affect the future. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is decide what our attitude will be. Life is 10% what happens to us, and 90% how we react to it. Our attitude is the most vulnerable part of our existence – it is also the only part of our existence over which we have total control.
