This is a timely intervention by the NT and Presidency to acknowledge the devastating effects of climate change on peoples livelihoods. A lot of the discussion is understandably focused on 'financing': enhancing the government's ability to absorb and mitigate the impact of 'under-predictable' and disastrous climate events on the fiscus. However, the public sector also needs to meaningfully incorporate 'climate planning', forecasting and risk mitigation into its sector-specific operational planning and delivery. The consequences of a silo mentality have never been greater... #climatesymposium2024
