𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐒𝐈𝐆𝐀) 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐝 Liga Portugal 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐳𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭, marking it as the first premier professional football League globally to go through SIGA’s Independent Rating and Verification System (SIRVS) and reach the podium. Conducted by SIGA’s independent and SIRVS trained global audit team, the SIRVS audit assessed Liga Portugal’s governance rules, processes and practices against the 2020 Edition of SIGA’s Universal Standards on Good Governance in Sport. Liga Portugal is now following in the footsteps of European Rugby League Federation, the first sports organisation to obtain SIRVS certification. This sets a precedence for other top-tier football organisations to demonstrate compliance and prove they are fit for purpose and worthy of the financial investment from the broadcasters and sponsors, the trust and public funding from the governments and the passion and loyalty from the fans. Several renowned international sports organisations have committed to undergoing SIRVS, including but not limited to SIGA’s long-term partner and European football’s governing body, UEFA. Other sports organisations, including LEN - European Aquatics and the International Chess Federation (FIDE) are making use of SIGA’s independent gap assessment audit, which is confidential and a precursor to SIRVS, to support the organisations in achieving excellence. 𝐄𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐬, SIGA’s Global CEO, said: “The SIGA Universal Standards on Sport Integrity, and SIRVS are designed to support sports organisations’ ongoing governance journey. They are the silver bullet; the most advanced and the only independent tool in the entire global sports industry to assess, rate and certify sports organisations’ governance and deliver, in a rigorous, neutral and objective manner, the indispensable transparency and accountability. As the pioneering football league to go through SIRVS, Liga Portugal has undoubtedly demonstrated its commitment to Sport Integrity and continual governance improvement. But, by doing so, they have also set an example for every other single sport organisation. Today, I congratulate Liga Portugal, not just for their achievement, but for becoming the torchbearers of change, inspiring a brighter, more trustworthy future for football." 𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐫𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐧ç𝐚, LIGA Portugal’s president, stated: “Transparency, ethics and integrity have always been top priorities for Liga Portugal. We have always assumed that it is not enough to express our ambitions, it is necessary to take action. Being the first professional football league to achieve this certification reinforces our commitment to protecting competitions and safeguarding integrity in Professional Football. My research - The role of sport in ensuring sport and education are well integrated to provide positive career outcomes for players; goes in line with the Japanese development system. 🔑Key takeaways - 1. Schools and academies should not be seen as a trade off for football players to train. Rather schools are the place where most players can be developed without overlooking academics. 2. Universities should compete at the highest level. This will be possible if grassroots system is strong. Simply put - A single club can develop few players, but a system can help develop every talented player in the country. 3. In the case of an unfortunate event with the player (injury, financial, personal), they have solid education backing. This security is a must for all players! This provides positive reinforcement for parents who enrol their children to football. 4. Considering the success rate in elite sport. This is the best way to develop the sport and Indian players to play at the highest level. 5. To play the world cup, we first need to think of conquering Asia, then acing the WC qualifiers. This step by step approach can get us one step closer to the dream of India playing in the Football World Cup. What are your thoughts? 💭

I've always attempted to describe the player development process in Japan, but I've never truly succeeded. Despite serving as a consultant for Major League Soccer for 11 years, assisting in player scouting, I found it challenging to convey the intricacies of Japanese soccer development. In Japan, school varsity teams hold significant influence, and both high school and college soccer serve as the pathways to becoming professionals. However, explaining this proved difficult because every country has school teams, and unless you've witnessed and experienced it in Japan, it's tough to convey the unique nature of the system in my country. FIFA has shed light on this area, and I encourage anyone interested in understanding how elite players are produced in the Far East to explore it further. https://lnkd.in/gitkBDjQ

ICYMI: Football Queensland’s two-year referee strategy to drive development and retention: Football Queensland (FQ) are embarking on a transformative journey. Wishing to elevate the current refereeing regime on a state-wide level is a high-priority within their objectives. The Referee Strategy plan will run from 2024 until 2026, where the current framework of officials officiating within Queensland looks to be recrafted. Referees are the unsung heroes of any sport, especially football. The decisions they make as a collective can have historical ramifications. They are ultimately tasked with making correct decisions, while under the microscope of the entire footballing audience, governing bodies and participants all watching attentively on to hear of what the decision may be, which ultimately impacts their respective teams. The constant pressure, scrutiny and tension they are under does not go unnoticed, nor should their presence. Referring on a global scale is a tedious aspect of sport. It is simple to attract people that are keen to participate within a sport on a playing level. In an officiating role, it is a whole different kettle of fish. The Strategic Pillars The priority placed upon the recruitment and retainment of officials is a focal point of the FQ referee strategy. Unification of their already established referee base is crucial. Their primary objectives include: 3600 FQ Registered Referees across all formatted of football within Queensland. 50/50 Parity: Resulting in FQ wishing to foster 1250 more female referees. Queensland founded referees to be represented on a global scale. Developing pathways for educators, referees and match day officials. With all of those objectives in mind. To execute such a tall order is achievable all through the basis of a solid foundation. The “Strategic Pillars” assorted to accumulate 3,600 referees by the year 2026 include the following stages. Pillar #1: Recruitment and Outreach The re-imagination of talent recruitment, combined with diversification and expansion all are at the forefront of the strategies initial phase. Pillar #2: Pathways and Opportunities Creating a community that thrives upon the continuous growth of refereeing through the establishment of a unified culture, spearheaded by the passion involved for the game and officiating. Pillar #3: Retention and Engagement The pressures involved within the occupation can deter potential participants or current officials for wanting to exercise their skillset within the field. The third phase within the pillars involves support directed towards the wellbeing of officials. Ensuring that they are recognized, celebrated, supported and encouraged. Pillar #4: Training and Development The fourth and final phase is equally as important as the previous three. The creation of cohesion amongst a community is of great importance. Looking to… #Football #Soccer #FootballNews
