🗓 On July 17 we mark the World Day for International Justice. This day unites all those who wish to support justice, promote victims’ rights, and help prevent crimes that threaten the peace, security and well-being of the world. ✒ Among the most important goals for #ERADICATINGII is to improve the capacity of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors, labour inspectors and first-line practitioners to detect, identify, protect and refer victims of labour trafficking for support and care. ✔ Helping shape the legal framework and support victims of human trafficking will increase the number of identified victims of labour trafficking, especially among vulnerable groups such as women, children and Ukrainian refugees, as well as to increase the number of investigation and prosecutions at EU level. #EndHumanTrafficking #HumanRights #SocialJustice #WorldDay #InternationalJustice #ERAFICATINGII #trafficking #lawenforcement #victimprotection #combatingtrafficking

The Biden Administration plans to create a rule allowing asylum officers to enforce certain restrictions at the border when interviewing people who are seeking safety and protection. Such a rule will unfairly impact immigrant survivors of domestic and gender-based violence, hindering their access to justice. These policies often overlook the complexities of their experiences and the barriers they face. To learn more, read DCVLP's comment on the rule at https://lnkd.in/e9ZzHR_V #ImmigrantRights #EndGBV #JusticeForSurvivors

Did you know that January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month? Every year since 2010, the President has dedicated the month to raise awareness about human trafficking and to educate the public about how to identify and prevent this crime. The U.S. Department of State raises awareness of human trafficking domestically and abroad, through U.S. embassies and consulates. During this month, we celebrate the efforts of foreign governments, international organizations, anti-trafficking entities, law enforcement officials, survivor advocates, communities of faith, businesses, and private citizens all around the world to raise awareness about human trafficking. #raiseawareness #humantrafficking #humantraffickingawareness #sextrafficking #endhumantrafficking #humanrights #childtrafficking #savethechildren #enditmovement #trafficking #stophumantrafficking #endtrafficking #hagomel

Senior International Advisor | The IWH Group | Global Security | Cross-Border Research Association | Former INTERPOL & UN
The global human trafficking problem remains severe, as reported by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and INTERPOL. According to the UNODC's 2024 report, global crises have shifted trafficking patterns, complicating victim identification efforts. An estimated 50 million people were living in modern slavery in 2023, with human trafficking being a significant contributor. Women and girls account for 65% of identified victims, primarily trafficked for sexual exploitation and forced labor [oai_citation:1,Global Report on Trafficking in Persons](https://lnkd.in/etM9pERA) [oai_citation:2,UNODC global report on trafficking in persons: crises shift trafficking patterns and hinder victim identification](https://lnkd.in/eZJVTaKt). In a recent major initiative, Operation Global Chain (3–9 June 2024), which was led by Austria and coordinated by Romania, Europol, Frontex, and INTERPOL, targeted high-risk criminal networks involved in sexual exploitation, forced criminality, and forced begging. This operation identified 1,426 potential victims and resulted in 212 arrests across 44 countries. The coordinated effort aimed to detect, disrupt, and assist trafficking victims, underscoring the need for international collaboration to combat human trafficking effectively [oai_citation:3,Global operation identifies 1,426 potential victims of human trafficking](https://lnkd.in/e9Czy-4v). These statistics highlight a pressing global issue that requires sustained international efforts to protect and assist victims while prosecuting traffickers. We call on the European Parliament to reject the Migration Pact! Tomorrow MEPs will vote on a #EUMigrationPact that would: 1️⃣ Increase detention of thousands of people at the borders, including children. 2️⃣ Complicate access to protection, without guaranteeing access to legal assistance. 3️⃣ Increase human suffering. 4️⃣ Outsourcing the responsibility to protect to countries with dubious #HumanRights records. 5️⃣ All while not providing any solutions to the current shortcomings.
