Some simple ways I've seen interims secure assignments faster this uncertain market: ✅ Be flexible. Sometimes, a three-day-a-week job opens the door to new opportunities, and staying active is always beneficial. ✅ Accept a shorter contract and build from there. An interim aiming for six months accepts a three-month offer, only for it to extend to six months anyway. ✅ Take a chance on new sectors. Even if a specific industry doesn’t initially excite you, it might pleasantly surprise you. ✅ Leave the ego at the door. You may well be be "overqualified" for the substantive role, but your support makes a valuable difference. Think differently. ✅ Adjust rates strategically. Factor in what the position offers outside of the rate. ✅ Respond swiftly. Decisions move fast, this isn't to everyone's liking. These approaches may not suit everyone, but I've seen them work. I have been fascinated by what makes people tick for as long as I can remember. It might explain why I was drawn to recruitment consultancy in the first place and why, like a moth to a flame, it still drives me 26 years on. We are not saving lives but we do have the power to make or break careers in an instant. That responsibility cannot be taken lightly and needs to be handled without ego and with humility, care and respect. We must learn from our mistakes. I have seen too many appointments over the years driven by a hunger for fee income rather than being motivated by making sure the right person gets the job or that the person gets the right job. Take your pick. In interim management we have to make rapid judgements about that match because it is a competitive and fast moving field. Get it wrong and the impact is huge. Get it right and the impact is huge. Doing what is right comes first. Always. Even if means waiting another day for that fee. #localgovernment #interimmanagement

Great advice from Danny. Even interim and contract roles - take time to secure. 6mths can be typical at executive level. Allow for this in your job search and you'll be better prepared, to master your mindset through the uncertainty of a job change.

I wish I'd started my search sooner, it took longer than I thought❗️ " I frequently hear this from top quality senior executives looking for interim work Suggesting you start looking the minute you finish is a pretty unappealing thought to many, I know 😂 BUT finding that 1st assignment can take 3, 4, 5 or even 6 months + Execs tell me they didn't realise it would take so long.
