Great timing that our end of quarter celebration coincided with England’s match against Denmark last night, so naturally we decided to bring the party in-house!

As Australians all turn their gaze to the Olympics, it is a very good time to remind everyone in all levels of government of the importance of sport in the well being of our country. Sadly, of late, we have had to rely on the foresight of long gone governments for our sporting facilities, as modern governments make sports facilities less of a priority for its citizens. We need more pools, multi-court facilities and open space if our children of today become the Olympians of tomorrow. In this election year, why not ask your local candidate how they plan to improve the access to sporting facilities for the next generation of Australians ?

Watkins' last minute winner vs Netherlands followed by Bellingham’s bicycle kick vs Slovakia. SOUTHGATE 👨🏻💼 Almost one in three think Southgate should be knighted, but just over half don't agree. We are lucky. 😘 Lucky to live in the world's largest multicultural democratic haven – Europe. Composed of imperfect democracies but far more perfect than many other regimes on the planet. What we have just experienced in France during these Olympic Games has shown us how the values that guide us, such as freedom, equality, and fraternity, are also values that sports magnify. Did you know? The 27 countries of the European Union, when we add up their medals, are comfortably ahead in terms of gold medals: 97! (vs. 40 USA and 40 China), silver medals: 95! (vs. 44 USA and 27 China), and the total number of medals won: 309!!! (vs. 126 USA and 91 China). It is easy to understand through this observation that sporting development, and therefore indirectly general well-being, is undoubtedly intimately linked to our multi-democratic situation. As the 2024 Olympics come to an end, while waiting for the 2024 Paris Olympics, several positive feelings dominate my state of mind, but above all, I am aware of my luck. I am so proud to be French, but especially proud to be European. Vive l’Europe. https://lnkd.in/ejUFBj7c

Not the 3–0 I predicted but are we being too harsh on England? Let’s look at the facts/positives: 1. We have won the group 2. Every other team in our group were happy to draw 3. Slovenia and Denmark will go through without winning a game 4. We are the only team to get a win in the group. 5. The only group where there was just 1 game won 6. We now get to play a 3rd place team in the last 16 7. Followed by a 2nd place team in the quarters 8. We won’t face a group winner until the semi-final 9. We avoid Spain, Germany, Portugal and France until the final 10. No one is singing “It’s coming home” 11. I'm still backing England to win the Euros! 😮 Does anyone agree with this? Am I too optimistic? Let's hear your thoughts... #England #Euros #GroupWinners

Croke park v Lansdowne road…? Like Irish unity there’s a thought you’d think might never happen. However, money always talks. It could solve a lot of problems- 1. Athmosphere “Compared with the regular Six Nations crowd, the World Cup attendees were younger and more boisterous, drawn from across the spectrum of sports. When it comes to spring, many of those supporters find themselves locked out by the model that sees the union distribute their tickets through the clubs, who often bundle at least some of them and sell them to corporate entities and travel companies. The income they generate funds the sport at a local level, but an additional capacity would allow the union to investigate ways to tap into the latent interest from the World Cup” Enjoyment- It will stop the boozers in the stands destroying the enjoyment of the others. Far more can attend. Money- It would generate a lot more, and perish the thought, the IRFU might even reduce prices to encourage real fans. So how about leaving the RDS and Lansdowne road? Allow Leinster use it. The GAA use it. More Concerts. As the IRFU don’t really care about their Patrons once they get their money that won’t be an issue. They side step a changing culture towards boozing.
Ruaidhri O’Connor: Croke Park is looming large over Irish rugby – can the IRFU resist its lure?
