It appears that Texas is once again leading the charge in pioneering solutions to today's challenges. I strongly advocate for the provision of grants to startup companies like this one, committed to addressing complex housing issues. Now more than ever, the United States is confronting a critical housing crisis exacerbated by numerous factors. Among them is the inability of individuals to afford a down payment, which significantly inflates the cost of mortgages, further exacerbating the affordability dilemma. The issue only becomes more complex as we begin to see how much it costs to build homes, whether luxury or cookie-cutter. This video brings up the topic of the generated waste associated with traditional home building methods. Has anyone here been near a residential construction site? The amount of trash that collects around these homes can be unfathomable to some. I wonder what the true waste costs are associated with 3D printed homes. It isn't hemp, but I think this is going in the right direction.

I was glad to participate in a conversation about housing production innovation as part of a Business Insider Big Business feature below on the state of 3D printing applications to housing construction. (Here’s a link to a Lennar pilot project in Texas: https://lnkd.in/g-pnwACp ) There are many ongoing attempts to reduce the cost of housing construction - manufactured, modular, panelization, robotic, digital tech, 3D printing, smaller scale, etc. - along with much needed ways to reduce the cost of housing regulations. Through cycles of technology hits and misses, venture capital and business research and development have transformed productivity and market demand in many industries - however, real estate and housing development and construction still lag far behind. Dutch startup Urban Reef is combining #3dprinting and natural materials to imagine and design greener and more inclusive cities. To do this, they have developed structures called Reefs that they hope will help revolutionize the cities of tomorrow and provide a viable solution to #climatechange. This is an interesting article. At some point in the near future, 3D-printed houses and whole communities will be viable options in many countries around the world. Worth keeping an eye on this technology.

Tomorrow, I'm talking to a fence company that's been around since 1917, has five branches, and wants to use DrawAFence.com in all of them. Their reasons are exactly what we thought they'd be when we created the product: 1. CAD software is expensive 2. It's also hard to use 3. You need to hire someone who knows how to draw 4. Then you need to teach them how fences work (this part is harder than most people think!) 5. They need fast turnaround on their drawings We've already built hundreds of different drawing generators, and we've got many more on the way, but if you know fencing, you know that there are tens of thousands of specs out there. That's why we also have a request a drawing feature. Users who need a specific drawing that we don't have in a hurry can request that we fast-track it. So basically, we'll bump it to the front of the queue and turn it around in a day or two. You can also use DrawAFence.com on any device, and all you need is an internet connection. So you can generate fence and gate drawings while standing on-site or from the beach. In the latest Leadership Message on #PDREdge, Tanaya Srini, senior advisor for #innovation, discusses how #Alaska’s unique housing challenges, including harsh climates and logistical difficulties, drive the exploration of 3D concrete printing (3DCP) as an affordable housing solution. HUD has invested in a mobile 3DCP unit to test its viability in Alaska’s subarctic region. This initiative, funded by a $600,000 grant, aims to reduce construction costs, lessen reliance on imported materials, and provide resilient housing capable of withstanding extreme weather conditions. The project, in collaboration with Penn State University and local partners, will focus on the adaptability and #sustainability of 3DCP for remote communities.
