In 2023, the median ransom demand leapt to a staggering $20M from just $1.4M in 2022. This jaw-dropping increase highlights the rising sophistication of cyberattacks and the glaring weaknesses in outdated security methods. Legacy MFA systems are no match for today’s cyber threats. They fail to defend against phishing, adversary-in-the-middle attacks, malware, and other social engineering ploys. Indeed, the Verizon Data Breach Incident Report consistently shows that over two-thirds of breaches stem from compromised credentials, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) reports that 90% of successful ransomware attacks start with phishing. #cybersecurity #infosec #informationsecurity #ransomware
