Atlantic Canada truly has amazing #fintech companies making their presence known on the global stage. As a supporting organization to these companies, it is inspiring to witness their commitment, their dedication, and their passion for what they are doing, and to help those entrepreneurs when needed. We are grateful for the supportive ecosystem that allows us the privilege, including ACOA - APECA and the provincial governments of NB, NL, NS and PEI. #growthcommunity #fintech
THE UNLIKELY CORNER OF CANADA WHERE FINTECHS FLOURISH Is the next Silicon Valley hiding in a part of Canada known for its rustic charm, great seafood, and natural beauty—and not much else? If someone asked you what you know about Canada’s Atlantic region, you might think of Anne of Green Gables, gigantic lobsters, maple syrup, and those world-famous Malpeque oysters. But you might have no idea that this gem of the northeast is also a hotbed of financial technology ready to compete with the likes of San Francisco, Berlin, Singapore, and London for investment capital. It’s true! Atlantic Canada—comprising the four provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island—is home to Atlantic Fintech, a community of more than 150 fintechs employing thousands of brilliant people from all over the world at both start-ups and established players alike. We all know Canadians don’t like to brag, but we’re willing to make an exception when it comes to the superstar fintechs in our growth community, including: Beauceron Security: Gamifying cybersecurity to harness people power — Beauceron uses interactive tools and educational materials to create a gamified experience that teaches employees how to tackle threats like phishing. The opportunity to connect with technology councils at the annual Technology Councils of North America (TECNA) conference is so valuable for understanding trends and challenges facing the tech industry across North America. We are excited to bring these perspectives back to #atlanticCanada
We had a great first day of the 2024 TECNA Summer Conference in Boston with representatives from over half our member organizations! We heard from Joseph Fuller from the Harvard Business School, and had great presentations and discussions in member-led breakout sessions. Then we ended the night with the 6th Annual TECNA Innovation Awards celebrating the outstanding work of our member organizations. Congratulations to the winners from the US and Canada! We are overjoyed to see everyone together again in such a network-rich and relationship-building environment. Here are just a few photo highlights of the Innovation Awards! Thank you to our Innovation Awards Sponsor NorthGuide and event hosts Doug Robertson and Zakiyyah Ali! #techcouncils #tecna2024
