*VOTE for # 9 (Spinal IPU)* https://lnkd.in/dt4mHTgr The Spinal-IPU initiative at SGH - Riyadh represents a shift in the way spinal-related conditions are approached. Unlike traditional models of care, which often operate in silos and focus solely on clinical outcomes, our initiative incorporates a comprehensive pathway using a value care delivery chain (VCDC), interdisciplinary collaboration, standardized clinical practice guidelines (CPG), and patient-centered care. Patient value was measured using clinician-reported outcome measures (CROMs), disease-specific patient-reported outcomes (PROMs), and patient-reported experience measures (PREMs). The main aim of the initiative was to redesign the care delivery model for spinal-related conditions through an integrated approach that focuses on commitment, collaboration, and outcome measures.In SGH, we leverage technological solutions to enhance patient care and outcomes. For instance, mHealth was used to provide patients with convenient access to their health information, electronic health record was used to assist the medical team in documenting treatment plans consistently, and e-PROM assisted our patients in assessing outcomes electronically. The preliminary results from our initiative are promising. Clinical outcomes, as measured by CROMs, showed a significant reduction in the rate of surgical site infection (SSI) and an improvement in medical record documentation. Furthermore, PROMs indicated that patients are experiencing improved quality of life, better functional status, and less pain. Our initiative represents a transformative approach to spinal care delivery. The interdisciplinary collaboration, standardized protocols, patient-centered care, and measuring outcomes were driving factors that enabled us to redefine the standard of excellence in spinal care.

Today, CIGRE Nederland had its biannual meeting with the Study Committee chairs and the Next Generation Network (NGN). Besides an update on the ins and outs of CIGRE Netherlands, we reflected on how the Study Committee chairs (SCs) give shape and meaning to their SC. A fruitful exchange of perspectives on the role, function and approach and also as on-boarding inspiring for those recently in a chairmanship role. 🤝 Collaboration is key. As chairs, cross-committee in working groups and knowledge events, as SCs together with our NGN members, as well as with the international network; also outside the E-sector. The complexity of the tasks we face in the energy transition requires sustained energy and commitment to that cooperation as well as entering into new relationships with adjacent sectors. Something we are fully committed to, as our successful international events show. ⚡ A shared vision is also that we need to move faster than ever. Working groups that work on a subject for four to six years have had their day. Developments are moving fast and this requires a disruptive approach. Shorter knowledge-development cycles, working on it and learning from it, and integrating this in further innovation. We are entering more discussions with the international committees of CIGRE to tailor the Terms of Reference to this. 💕 During the final matchmaking between NGN members and the respective SCs, new contacts emerged through which young people can contribute and learn. This need not only have a content focus 🎓. Skill training in the 21st century is at least as relevant for making complexity manageable and learning to understand, appreciate and harness a diversity of views, practices and cultures. Leiden secured the 6th spot in ICCA's national conference destination ranking for 2023. ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) annually ranks cities based on conference factors such as rotation in countries, frequency, and participant numbers. The first position is held by Amsterdam, followed by Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, and Maastricht. Leiden hosted 16 ICCA-approved international conferences in 2023, ranking 81st in Europe and 143rd globally. With strong collaboration among our city partners, we successfully host international scientific conferences in Leiden, despite the absence of large-scale convention centers. Connecting multiple venues in Leiden transforms the historic city center into the conference floor. Miranda Geerlings, manager of Leiden Convention Bureau, is pleased with the result. "Our 6th position in the annual ranking is a remarkable achievement for the 22nd most populated city in the Netherlands. It's a reward for the efforts of Leiden Convention Bureau, our conference ambassadors, and all our conference partners. The title of European City of Science 2022 has given the city of Leiden a place in the spotlight of science on a European scale. I believe that this title has been and will continue to be a great magnet for international conferences and associations to choose Leiden as their destination.
