"If you could ask Gary one question, what would that be?" We asked Young Lions in Cannes what they wanted to ask Gary Vaynerchuk and the advice never misses. This time, Gary shares his take on consistency and adaptability. As he says, he "would rather put himself out of business than let someone else do it." And that's the tea. #canneslions2024

A great example of Watkins delegating to Palmer in last night’s awesome England win against the Netherlands! When delegation works, it has amazing results! ⚽️ 💪🏻 In a business environment, it’s no different to how it worked on the field last night. Watkins had spoken to Palmer about: 👏🏻 how they work together 👏🏻 what it would look like in practice I.e. when they were actually playing the game , I imagine signals to look for from each other and positioning on the field in order for it to work effectively 💥 BOOM 💥 A lot of people struggle with giving things to other people as commonly these things go awry: 😬 the way it is delegated, communication style is not confirmed or misunderstood 😵💫 the reason why it has been delegated. The purpose hasn’t been explained so the person who is now expected to execute X may do it different to how it’s expected 😳 who X is delegated to can also make things go off piste. Have you checked that person has the right skill set? Experience etc? Quite often, people have built their skills (not accurately either) just from being delegated to badly! So you see why delegation can be a minefield! As a former PA of over 20 years I have been delegated to from various levels of boss and client since having my own business so have experienced it firsthand when it goes well, why and when it hasn’t worked so well! I have also had a team so know the other side of the coin! Now I am stepping into this realm and adding this wholly important element onto what I offer with individual clients. I already organise individuals but to filter this down into their team will have bigger and more long lasting results. Are you or do you know a Founder, CEO eith a team of about 5 who is suffering this issue with wanting to scale, move forward but is held back as they are the bottle neck and despite loving their team, they are ‘too busy’ to actually dig deep and get these issues sorted. Over a period of 6 weeks I will come into their life and work my magic on how they use their day and the effects that then has on their team and the team’s management (or not!) of theirs….! This will be delivered through a mix of in person, calls and 1:1’s to guarantee awesomeness across the business 💫 This will be a whirlwind of shapeshifting results, accountability like they’ve never known it and I’ll also ensure these human get their own lives back on track too 💪🏻😍 So this is me stepping into my true serving and sharing it this morning with you. Message me and let’s get you going into Q4 the way you actually want to be!! Whose watching the final? https://lnkd.in/gysgBF-r

On the heels of a fantastic National Championship win by Michigan – Go Blue!! – I wanted to share my deep appreciation for the late, great Wolverine Coach Bo Schembechler and his 1983 "The Team" speech. It is short but inspiring and rings true for me. Here is just a little excerpt: "… there's gonna be one Team that's gonna play solely as a Team. No man is more important than The Team. No coach is more important than The Team. The Team, The Team, The Team, and if we think that way, all of us, everything that you do, you take into consideration what effect does it have on my Team? …. We're gonna win the championship again because we're gonna play as team, better than anybody else in this conference, we're gonna play together as a team. " As a leader, I believe that if I prioritize my team’s development: above self, above the metrics, the outputs, above optics and all the politics that could creep into our daily work - that achieving the goal naturally follows. I know this is not a popular view, especially in fundraising where the dollar goal reigns supreme. Many years ago I, was not hired for a director of development position because I stated this when asked if hired, what my top priority should be. Even though they shared that the short-staffed team’s morale was beyond low and needed help getting on track, they wanted to hear that dollars would be my primary driver. How might a team reach an ambitious dollar goal without knowing what the “why” is, nor have a clear path to achieving the goal, without training, without being in the “right seat on the bus,” without a strong culture of trust, without out shared knowledge or values, nor agreed upon practices, without knowing that their leader is behind them 100% personally and professionally? Prioritizing the team, building an impenetrable culture and showing up for one another as professionals and as humans even when it’s hard, gives my team the security to go out to our donors and our community as the most trained, most prepared, most passionate advocates of the Conservatory’s mission. They are supported, challenged, they take risks and sometimes don’t hit the mark but do it without fear – together we learn and improve. That team culture is how we have handily beat our annual goals by six or seven figures each year. And that is why I don’t regret what I said in that interview. I stand by it. The Go Team! pennant pictured above was a gift everyone on our development team received from our newest teammate who joined the team in October. How validating and heart-warming it was that she read our culture so perfectly! The Team. The Team. The Team! Good luck to us all as we work toward our goals in 2024, but for me and my team, we are more than that annual dollar goal. Much More! Go Team!

Waiting for Your Moment: The Power of Persistence When Martin Scorsese finally won his long-awaited Oscar for The Departed, he couldn’t help but ask Steven Spielberg, who was presenting the award, to double-check that there hadn’t been a mistake. "Are you sure?" he asked, almost disbelieving. And honestly, who could blame him? After all, he’d been nominated five times for Best Director and overlooked each time – even for iconic films like Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, and Goodfellas. While The Departed was brilliant, many of us felt there were other films in his career that were even more deserving of that recognition. But that’s the thing, isn’t it? Life doesn’t always reward us when we feel we’ve earned it. There are times when we might feel that we are more than deserving of recognition, but circumstances conspire against it. And when that happens, the real test is how we respond. Scorsese didn’t stop. He kept creating, kept doing what he was brilliant at, and eventually, his moment came. It’s a powerful lesson, one I’ve taken to heart. When life doesn’t immediately reward your hard work or dedication, don’t let it discourage you. Keep going, keep doing what you do best. There’s so much truth in the old saying – keep up the good work. Our moment of recognition will come. Just like Scorsese, we all have our time to make a comeback, to rise and claim what’s rightfully ours. Patience and perseverance always pay off in the end. #Patience #Perseverance #Persistence #Life #LifeLessons #MartinScorsese #Oscar

Do you know why Orry was seated in the first row whereas Vikrant Massey was placed on the third at a Filmfare award? Because even though Vikrant Massey is more talented than Orry, Orry has built a strong brand for himself through marketing. Same goes for you. You may be more experienced and deserving, but your competitors are not only stealing the limelight but also the business because their marketing strategy is on point. Think about it! #NicheDominanceWizard #SocialMediaMarketing
