Leading into the second half of #TotalRewardsSG was a lightning talk session on Legal clinic: Navigating the guidelines on flexible work arrangement requests that will take effect on 1 December 2024 led by Dawn Wong, Head of People & Experience, APAC, VaynerMedia as well as Zhao Yang Ng, Local Principal, Baker McKenzie. As the Tripartite Guidelines on Flexible Work Arrangement Requests (TG-FWAR) come into effect in December this year, they are expected to shape the norms and expectations around FWAs. Hear from them as they explore how employees should request formal FWAs and use them, and how employers and supervisors should handle FWA requests. Addressing concerns on the potential decline of face-to-face interactions amidst remote work, the discussion emphasised the importance of creating deliberate actions by both parties to facilitate such moments. Naturally, another main point of contention for FWAs is the possibility of employees misuing such arrangements. However one speaker shares his philosophy in dealing with this concern — ‘trust, but verify’; trust that your employees are doing the right thing, but do find a way to verify. Next up was a leadership exchange on Rewards as a leverage of talent attraction and retention: The new rules of employee loyalty. This leadership exchange dives into the new rules of employee loyalty, exploring how rewards & recognition can be leveraged for talent attraction and retention.
