Access to primary care for older adults is a growing concern, particularly for those living in rural areas. We see this every day. As our population ages, the disparity in healthcare services becomes increasingly evident. Rural communities often face significant barriers, including a shortage of healthcare providers, longer travel distances to medical facilities, and limited resources. We should be asking why are there are shortage of healthcare providers. This lack of access exacerbates health inequities, leading to poorer health outcomes and a higher burden of chronic diseases among older adults in these areas. The current payment structures do not adequately support the provision of primary care services in rural settings, making it difficult for healthcare providers to sustain their practices. Until comprehensive payment reform is implemented, this situation will continue to deteriorate. We need policies that incentivize primary care in underserved areas and ensure that all older adults, regardless of where they live, receive the care they need to lead healthy lives. I personally think it is imperative that any prospective client of Opal Healthcare is fully informed on how some of Opal Healthcare's employees have been, and are still being treated. It is only fair. I know personally, that I would never ever give my business to a company who mistreats their employees. Prospective clients should be given the same choice. Be transparent with your marketing Awaken. Opal Healthcare promotes its values as 'compassion', 'accountability', 'respect', and 'excellence'. That is to the uninitiated. Today is Health and Safety Me at CSIRO. ——————- - It is a nice tradition that CSIRO has to allocate a full day in late Oct for all staff and affiliates to reflect on their health and safety, checking on each other and how everyone feels and doing. ——————- - The photo is from a morning session from the Stroke Foundation team. It is shocking to see that we have 1 stroke every 19 minutes in Australia. 24% of those are happening for people of working age. ——————- - While all of us are trying to push the boundaries of science and technology not just at CSIRO but across many other organisations, we usually get trapped into lots of deadlines and competitions and it is very important to remember to breathe and take care of ourselves and colleagues around us. ——————- - The good news is that 80% of those strokes and health issues are preventable. Having a healthy and safe workplace regardless of the organisation would surely help and is the best for all of us individually and collectively to have way better achievements for the long run with little negative impacts. ——————-

The NHS is undergoing creeping privatisation, which is leading to avoidable deaths. Since 2012 local health bodies have been forced to put some contracts for services out to private companies, at tax-payer expense. This means healthcare is not always as quick and effective as it should be, leading to worse care and a rise in deaths. And competition has led to cost-cutting and As Ben Goodair notes, ‘While some have argued the Health and Social Care Act would improve the performance of health services by increasing competition, our findings add merit to longstanding concerns it could instead lead to cost-cutting and poorer health outcomes.’ Last year We Own It organised a rally in Parliament Square to highlight these unnecessary deaths.
