360 Integrated Marketer Developing & Elevating Beauty & Wellness Brands. Co-Founder @ The Beauty Brief. Brand & Content Strategist.
Beauty marketer and hormonal acne haver checking in: I’m happy to see this article in the sea of other terrifying press hits after the recent benzoyl peroxide controversy. But I want to hear additional thoughts from my beauty science community here. It was comforting to see one of our favorite voices on this platform, Kelly A Dobos MS, MBA, weigh in: “The acne products do not appear to be contaminated with trace benzene, rather "the benzene [may be] coming from decomposition of the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide,” explains cosmetic chemist Kelly Dobos.” “Valisure’s study suggests that subjecting some benzoyl peroxide-containing acne products to increased temperatures — between 99 and 150 degrees Fahrenheit (an approximation to the temperature of a hot car) — might accelerate that reaction, Dobos explains.” How can we clearly explain what’s been found here to consumers when there is inevitably going to be a heightened wariness around the popular ingredient? What are your predictions for acne treatment evolution and product development moving forward? Share your thoughts below ⬇️ #benzoylperoxide #acne #dermatology #cosmeticchemist #skincare #dermatologist #chemist #acnetreatment #hormonalacne #womenshealth #beauty #beautybusiness #beautyindustry #beautycommunity #beautynews #skincarecommunity

One of the most effective solutions is Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant known for its brightening and anti-aging properties. 🔸 Why Vitamin C? Fades Hyperpigmentation: Inhibits melanin production, lightening dark spots and preventing new ones. Evens Skin Tone: Regular use brightens the overall complexion. Boosts Collagen Production: Helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Protects Against Environmental Damage: Neutralizes free radicals from UV exposure and pollution. 🔸 How to Use: Choose the Right Form: Opt for serums with L-ascorbic acid for maximum potency. Patch Test: Ensure no adverse reactions by testing on a small skin area. Morning Routine: Apply in the morning to clean, dry skin before moisturizer and sunscreen. Consistency is Key: Daily use is essential for the best results. 🔸 Pro Tips: Pair with Sunscreen: Protect your skin from UV rays. Store Properly: Keep your serum in a cool, dark place to maintain its effectiveness. Combine with Other Actives: Pair with niacinamide or hyaluronic acid for enhanced benefits. Everyone desires to showcase captivating and expressive lips! At times, you might notice flakiness, redness, or a sensation resembling dryness and irritation on your lips, known as Cheilitis. This condition indicates that your lips are chapped. Chapped lips are often triggered by environmental factors such as extremely dry or cold weather, which leads to increased irritation due to saliva and lip licking, consumption of spicy foods, medication like cholesterol-lowering agents, and allergic reactions. Primarily, dryness is the root cause of this issue. Although chapped lips might naturally heal over time, if improvement doesn't occur within a day or two, consider using lip balm. Lip balms comprise a blend of waxes and oils that create a protective barrier on the skin. Opt for a lip balm containing either petroleum jelly or a paraffin base, as these ingredients help retain moisture, shield your lips, and allow them to heal. Avoid products containing fragrances, camphor, menthol, and salicylic acid, as these elements can lead to skin irritation, disrupt the skin barrier, and worsen hydration loss, consequently exacerbating chapped lips. Additionally, refrain from exfoliating lips that are already dry and irritated, as this can potentially do more harm than good. If none of these measures seem effective, it's advisable to consult a dermatologist for further guidance #cosmetics #skin #dermatology #lips #skincare #beauty #student #cosmeticscience
