Since 2021, UScellular has helped over 100,000 students nationwide access reliable internet to keep learning and exploring outside of school through its After School Access Project initiative. By donating over $29 million in hotspots and service in 3.5 years, we've partnered with 100+ nonprofits to ensure children and communities have the WiFi they need. This connection helps kids complete homework, read online, access STEM education tools and so much more. Curiosity, talent and grit are some of the attributes that drive #UofT's top researchers. In a new podcast series from The Hub, researchers explain how they see the future of their fields and why they are passionate about what's next. Learn how emotions can shape politics, why new drug delivery technology will improve cancer treatments, how to support demand for EVs, and a key difference between mice and humans (many, but one really matters). The series begins today with Sean Speer in conversation with Paul Bloom, professor of psychology and author of seven books. https://lnkd.in/gWSKbEUg

alright everyone, it's our time to shine! ✨ if you've been wondering how to get involved, be a part of our community and support our work, here's how — you can help us fund the future of Cerebral Palsy Strong in three ways: - make a donation (every dollar counts!) - start a fundraiser (ask us how!) - spread the word by reposting this to your feed ➡ https://lnkd.in/gu_ZUtyB it's our goal to raise $100,000 within our first year so that we can expand what we're able to offer our community, continue to share stories, curate more opportunities to come together online & IRL and begin to build spaces for belonging for people with cerebral palsy and our families, friends, and allies in the disability community. what we raise right now will immediately support our next CP Social — a live event in NYC happening this november — so that we can commit to free registration for everyone who attends. the CP Social creates space for adults with CP to find support, make connections, and feel a sense of belonging among peers. it's pretty special, lots of fun, and we know the need for social support in our community is so great. we're building something that doesn't exist and we're going to need everyone's help to bring this vision to life! to learn more about our story, our impact, what makes the CP Social so special, and why we need your support, visit our campaign page at https://lnkd.in/gTXaFc5S or check out this featured video. #CerebralPalsyStrong #CPstrong #community #disability

Did you know that the first 5 years of a child's life is considered to be the GOLDEN YEARS for language acquisition? It is during this time period that the brain's ability to adapt and change in response to input is the greatest (also known as NEUROPLASTICITY). Depending on how much or little simulation the brain receives, it begins to strengthen or weaken neural networks. If connections are inactive or unused, the brain begins the process of SYNAPTIC PRUNING, or elimination whereas the stimulated connections strengthen and grow. Without access to LANGUAGE (whether spoken or signed), a child's neurological development can be altered to the extent that a deaf child “may be unable to develop language skills sufficient to support fluent communication or serve as a basis for further learning." The earlier a child can access specialized interventions (through audiology, hearing equipment and educational professionals, etc.), the better equipped they are to learn about and navigate the world around them. The H.I.K.E. (Hearing Improvement Kids Equipment) Fund (Canada) is dedicated to providing hearing or assistive listening devices to children in need. We are always looking for generous donors to support this cause. It doesn’t take much to change a life. Get in touch today and start making a difference!
