Ever wondered about the safety of drinking water? 😊 Nitrate contamination in groundwater can have a long-lasting impact in agricultural regions due to decades of fertilizer nitrogen use. New research, based on stable isotopes, has found evidence of preferential transport of recently applied fertilizer nitrogen, which has implications for changes to application practices to reduce nitrate transport to underlying groundwater.
