Can’t Wait for SOF Week 2024!    Hello, everyone! As we prep for SOF Week 2024 in sunny Tampa next week, I want to share one of the sessions I'm particularly excited about.    This year, I’m eagerly looking forward to the Project Spectrum briefing which is a comprehensive platform that provides companies, institutions, and organizations with cybersecurity information, resources, tools, and training at no cost to industry.  As someone passionate about Cyber Security, I am thrilled to dive deeper into the CMMC certification process that will shape our operations and strategies in the coming years.    The speaker is impressive, and I expect the session to provide valuable insights that could drive future initiatives at Secured™ and beyond. It was a privilege to share the stage at Carlisle Support Services’s Innovation Lab 2024 with Nigel Brown LCGI Dip.CSMP M.ISMI CCMP MSyl, Stephen McCormick, Daniel Garnham and our host Adrian White. Between them, decades of experience in safeguarding the public and working closely with security operatives on the frontline. It was also heartening to hear common themes echoing from us all on the Lab Stage yesterday afternoon. We all believe that investing in people is what will keep the private security industry relevant in the coming years, by ensuring that: - we become more agile by adapting our recruitment and selection processes; tailoring them to the changes in people/technology trends e.g. flexible working patterns, the use of mobile phone technology, embracing the potential efficiencies that AI offers  - from entry level and beyond, all security operatives are offered continued professional development throughout their career with a clear professional pathway  - the security training on offer is fit for purpose in the ever changing geo/political landscape  - we always advocate for the use of inclusive practices when dealing with issues relating to culture, heritage, gender, sexuality, ability, mental health and neurodiversity  - the industry prioritises the safeguarding of women, girls and other vulnerable and/or marginalised groups #Innovationlab2024 #nextgenerationleaders #privatesecurity #womeninsecurity

Our very own exercise designer, Filipp Khosh, recently participated in the Homeland Defense Symposium at the US Army War College. This event provided Fil with invaluable exposure to the latest thinking on critical infrastructure defense, contested deployments, and cognitive warfare – all crucial areas for NUARI's exercise development. Fil's attendance directly benefits NUARI in several key ways: ◼ Enhanced Exercise Realism: The "Defending Critical Infrastructure" panel equipped him with insights into emerging threats and vulnerabilities, enabling him to design more comprehensive and relevant exercises that address the most pressing national security concerns. ◼Improved Deployment Preparedness: The "Contested Deployment" panel shed light on real-world logistics and security challenges faced during deployments. This knowledge allows Fil to craft exercises that effectively prepare our forces for such scenarios. ◼Countering Cognitive Warfare: The "Cognitive Defense" panel highlighted the real threat posed by cognitive warfare to the American population. This exposure prompted Fil to explore strategies for countering misinformation and disinformation campaigns, and he's already brainstorming ways to incorporate these elements into future exercise injects, enhancing their realism and impact. By integrating these learnings into future exercises, Fil can create more realistic, thorough, and challenging scenarios that better prepare organizations for the evolving threats they face. I am very late in sharing my ATT&CKCon 4.0 talk, but its still helpful if you are curious about how we started in the Center for Threat-Informed Defense and where we are headed. I highlighted two projects from our R&D program in 2023 and shared a bit about their origin and impact: ⭐ OceanLotus Adversary Emulation Plan - an evolution of our adversary emulation library ⭐ Summiting the Pyramid - our first step into advancing detection engineering for all. I then shared a bit about the active work in the R&D program highlighting a release that will go live a few weeks from today, M3TID. Registration is still open for our upcoming Irregular Warfare Center (IWC) Community of Interest Symposium (IWCCOIS) taking place March 11-13 in Tyson’s Corner, Va. IWCCOIS aims to bring together senior practitioners, Defense Industrial Base leaders, interagency organizations, industry, academia, and non-governmental organizations to reflect on the past year of the IW efforts and cast a vision of how IW looks in the future and how IW communities of interest (COI) can mutually support each other. The theme for the symposium will be the three IWC lines of effort (LOE)—amplify, illuminate, and address—to assess the remaining gaps and seams that the IW community should focus on over the next five years. Each thematic discussion and panel will amplify various IW organizations to further develop communities and illuminate current and future threats, threat trends, and the impacts of technology and ever-changing geopolitics. Organizations and participants will discuss current efforts to address hybrid threats, integrated deterrence and building resiliency to counter or conduct a broad continuum of irregular activities to gain optionality, impart costs on or hold our adversaries at risk to gain strategic advantage.
