Applications for the RWJF Health Policy Fellowship Program are now open! The 2025-26 class will expand to eight fellows. Eligible applicants are exceptional mid-career professionals who have also earned an advanced degree - either a masters or doctoral degree. Successful applicants will bring a depth of expertise and knowledge about health, health equity, and the drivers of health to the policymaking process; and will offer an informed perspective on important and complex challenges facing policymakers. The fellowship is comprised of two unique experiences: an immersive orientation period and a hands-on placement working as a senior advisor to an elected or appointed federal government official. 👉Today we were delighted to welcome Professor Katie Dainty to deliver a Dean's Distinguished Lecture on 'When You Need to Think Differently about Your Science: The Example of Lay Responder CPR Rates' 👉Using her qualitative work on bystander CPR and out of hospital cardiac arrest as an example, Katie discussed the importance of thinking differently to solve complex problems in health care. 👉Professor Dainty is a qualitative social scientist and Research Chair in Patient-Centred Outcomes at North York General Hospital. In addition to her appointment at NYGH, she is an Associate Professor and Director of the Health Systems Research Graduate Training Program in the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) at the University of Toronto. 👉She has expertise in the areas of patient and family experience, implementation science, patient-centred outcome measures, and quality improvement in health care. Her core program of research focuses on using qualitative and co-design methods to unpack long-held assumptions about bystander experience and survivorship following sudden cardiac arrest.
