Today is Perfecting Peds first day taking APPE students from my alma mater Rutgers. What a cool and surreal moment to be able to give back to the school that gave me so much. **Advice to Pharmacy Students:** Throughout my career, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience, and I am passionate about mentoring the next generation of pharmacists. My advice to pharmacy students is rooted in the values that have guided my own journey: 1. Dream big. Set ambitious goals and work tirelessly to achieve them. 2. Surround yourself with people who inspire you. Build a network of mentors, colleagues, and friends who challenge and support you. 3. Stay uncomfortable to grow. Embrace challenges and step out of your comfort zone to learn and develop. 4. Take care of yourself—put on your oxygen mask first. Prioritize your well-being to be the best caregiver you can be. 5. Treat every patient as if they were your family. Approach each case with empathy, compassion, and a commitment to excellence. 6. Stay hungry for knowledge. Continually seek out opportunities to learn and stay abreast of the of the latest advancements in your field. 7. Think outside the box. Be innovative and creative in solving problems and improving patient care. Me and my mentor/ bestie my grandfather after my white coat ceremony circa 2007.

One of my most rewarding moments is when I ask my APPE interns on their last day of the Critical Care rotation: How has this rotation contributed to your clinical and critical skills in pharmacy practice? Alaa: Now, I value the importance of being patient-specific in my dosing and monitoring recommendations. Mumena: After this rotation, I feel confident in interpreting clinical trials and apply them to our practice, and understand why we order certain labs for the patients Joshua: I learned how stressful it is to be a critical care pharmacist, but how rewarding at the same time seeing the patient improving from near death to good functional status. I learned how to have a clinical pharmacist mindset while reading a patient profile. Naiem: This rotation helped me to appreciate the roles and responsibilities of the nurse, pharmacist and physician in the ICU setting and how the inter-professional approach always result in better patient-centered outcome.
