💙 This #WorldHealthDay, let’s dive into the deep connection between ocean health and human well-being. Research from Catalonia uncovers the healing power of coastal environments, where oncology patients find solace and strength amidst nature’s embrace. 🌊🌲 For Marissa Busquets and others, the soothing sounds of the sea and the scent of pine trees provide invaluable inner peace, complementing medical treatment with natural therapy. Studies show that activities by the coast can significantly boost emotional well-being, offering a holistic approach to health. 💡 As we celebrate the healing potential of “blue spaces,” let’s not forget to protect the very ecosystems that sustain us. Protecting marine habitats ensures a healthier planet for future generations and safeguards the invaluable benefits our oceans provide to human health. 🤝 This collaboration between researchers, doctors, and local communities highlights the importance of understanding and nurturing the intricate link between ocean health and human health. Let’s prioritize both for a healthier, happier world. https://lnkd.in/d3r3kdBb

An important report from Campaign for National Parks How can we do more for nature in #nationalparks? How do we balance this with access? With rural economy? Housing? Food production? Heritage? Is is just about resource? What about powers? And partnerships? What are we already doing well? What can we learn? Great report. Powerful recommendations. Start of the next 75 years. (So let’s listen to the under 35s….) Kudos Dr Rose O'Neill and team.

Forests, trees, and #greenspaces play a vital role in ensuring a #healthylife for all on a global scale. Furthermore, the health benefits of forests and trees, ranging from physical and mental #wellbeing to overall mortality reduction, far outweigh the adverse effects on health. Recognizing the close links between #humanhealth, the health of other species, and the health of the #planet as a whole is critical. These are some of the key messages of a new global assessment, titled Forests and Trees for Human Health: Pathways, Impacts, Challenges and Response Options, which was produced by the Global Forest Expert Panels (GFEP) Programme of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) https://lnkd.in/gpu-5tqz

Tools that can be used to promote awareness of the health advantages associated with green spaces in urban environments include a variety of methods. Here are some of the best proven approaches: 1. Interactive Gardens and Natural Spaces: These offer a variety of mental, physical, and social benefits. For instance, interactions with gardens can lead to stress reduction, quicker healing, and even a decrease in crime and air pollution. 2. Parks and Recreation Programs: Professionals in parks and recreation can influence community health significantly. They can provide and promote safe, equitable, and inclusive access to parks, trails, recreation areas, and green spaces, which encourages physical activity and fosters community health. 3. Mental Health Benefits: Spending more time in nature has been associated with enhanced cognitive functioning, improved attention, and reduced stress. People who regularly engage with green spaces are less likely to suffer from anxiety disorders and depression, and more likely to report higher levels of happiness and well-being. 4. School Gardens: Garden-based learning can promote environmental awareness, health, and wellness not only within the school community but also beyond it. This includes reviewing the literature on the benefits of school gardening and sharing experiences for garden success. 5. Design of Child-Friendly Open Spaces: Analyzing the types and characteristics of open spaces that are dedicated to children's facilities, such as schools, hospitals, fitness camps, and playgrounds, can lead to promoting the multiple benefits of green open spaces for children's health and well-being
Access to green spaces is essential for the health and well-being of people all around the world🌱 🔗: https://lnkd.in/dMpiHE8i
