On National Disability Independence Day, we celebrate the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act into law, and recognize the achievements and rights of individuals with disabilities. The #digitaldivide can limit these citizens' access to services and resources essential to their quality of life. Let's make closing the digital divide a priority in PA! #digitalequity #ADA #DisabilityIndependenceDay

Celebrating #NationalDisabilityIndependenceDay today! 🎉 The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in many areas of public life. Creating accessibility is a path to the "E" in DEI = equity. It's not complicated to be fair, but it does require conscious, deliberate, and strategic thinking. As an OD | DEI | HR practitioner, I find that using universal design concepts is one way of driving our world and workplaces to be fair and kind to all people. #equity #fairness #freedom #inclusion #consciousculture #universaldesign #humankindness
Today is #NationalDisabilityIndependenceDay—a commemoration of the day the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed. The signing of the ADA was hard-fought by disabled activists and organizers who envisioned a better world. Today, this legacy continues through the framework of Disability Justice!

2moWould love to see more disability representation, particularly individuals using wheelchairs, in your media♿️ Also, Universal Studios Hollywood theme parks are NOT inclusive to the disabled community. Last time we visited, my daughter was denied access on rides, had to take long back ways on buses around the attractions versus being able to go with the flow of the park. Very poor experience! I appreciate this Disability Pride graphic, but hope to see real action and change take place. I know they are competitors, but look to what The Walt Disney Company is doing bc they create their rides, queues, experiences with disabled individuals in mind & I will spend my money there every time. When you know better, do better. #UniversalNotTrulyUniversal #disabilityrights #inclusion #accessibility
