Despite global progress, the gender pay gap persists, with women in low-income countries being particularly affected. In high-income nations, women earn 73 cents for every dollar earned by men. In contrast, in low-income countries, women earn just 44 cents for every dollar earned by their male counterparts. This sends out a wrong and dividing message. All over Europe, with almost exclusively high income countries, we have laws and regulations prohibiting a difference in salaries between genders. A man and woman earn the same salary if they have the same role and work the same hours. And there lies the true 'pay gap'. Men often work jobs that have more risks involved and earn a risk-fee accordingly. Men also tend to work more hours, as a lot of women voluntarily choose to work part-time or to work less hours above their regular schedule. Evidently, if we then take a look at the mean gross salaries, men do earn more than women. But not because of some sort of policy against women as this post tries to imply, but because of the differences listed above which are voluntary differences. If women would want to work those hours or those jobs, they would and they could. And many of them already do, and rightfully so. Those that don't wish to, also have every right not to. Stop trying to provoke gender differences that no longer exist in our countries. In Europe, men and women are considered equal and are treated and paid this way. More clarification is desirable in future posts, especially coming from an organization like the U. N.

The stats are faked, they use all jobs, the flaw is more women will take lower paying assembly work where as men will not do mundane jobs, so there is not a gender pay gap, the men in those factories are paid the same. what they fail to tell you in countries where this occurs is more women have jobs than men. But you don't hear men screaming women have more employment. Sexist United Nations, what a joke Where is the United Nations screaming at the world that there are hundreds of thousands of female only grants but not one for men only. when those numbers are equal, then you have a right to open your mouths. HOW THEY FAKE THESE STATS. take a factory that produces garment 100 female workers as they are mostly female, put it against another low paid car assembly factory 100 workers mostly male, they are both low pay but car assembly pays 40cents and hour more, But in each factory the men and women are paid the same. end result is the above stats, you cannot use various industries or even countries against each other, it is simply using fake figures. 100 council labourers mostly men compared to 100 nurses mostly women, the women are paid double the men, this is why you cannot blend stats

Let me say this for the hearing of everyone The analysis for this report is based on a sample of 20 countries (out of 193 member countriesof UN), excluding the agricultural sector. This sample size may not be sufficiently representative to draw broad conclusions about global trends, especially considering the vast differences labourer the market dynamics between countries and sectors. The exclusion of the agricultural sector, a major employer in many developing countries, further limits the scope of the findings.

Don't stick around and be under valued ladies or men. Keep moving. Find a wall go around or over. Find that happy place. My example. Over a 29 year career in aerospace I worked for so many different customers, different contracts and different people trying to manage within constraints of budgets that we create. Not adjusting budgets and implementing fair pay equity is a basic of Quality Management Systems. The good news is most of my bosses wanted to pay me equal. But bureaucracy always got in the way. Or different thinking about women being in the workplace perioed such as one of my bosses told me years ago that the men need to earn more than women because they are the main provider. And then he asked why I was working since I had children to take care of.🤕 I left the department and my new boss gave me a raise. I changed departments again and got the same spiel...Lori I know the men here earn more we will work to get you there. Never happened so I left again. Pay is supposed to be for the work we do and the level of impact you have to the company. Glad I was able to find greener pastures. Now we do a market review as part of our pay scale each year. With each contractor.

I came across an interview with the remarkable Dr. Denis Mukwege that struck a chord with me. He emphasized that despite the significant efforts made by women, the sobering reality is that true gender equality remains elusive. His advice for men was “Women did a lot, if you can see the last century, women fought a lot to get their rights and even so, there is no single country where we can say that equality is now there, that men and women are equal. Now, it’s time for men to stand up. It’s time for men to change their behavior and just support women in their human rights.” Every man who stands up for women's human rights deserves applause and appreciation. Now, it’s time for men to stand up. #humanrights

Let play by the rules then we do well. 👌✅We know to pay employees and contractors market rate is in all the large contracts that we carry as business owners and stakeholders. We know that workplace health and safety and ISO standards all cite safety and quality workplaces that includes pay equity as a standard line item since...the 80s for sure I've been reading and implementing government and commercial, military and private contracts. All of them cite pay equity or they cite other regs that do cute pay equity for staff, contractors..suppliers a well are in that line up.

at Benjamin Kankipati WOW. Wise words coming from a man. 🤣 You're COMPLETELY missing the issue. This isn't about money. OR SUCCESS!!! You speak of respect and honour, how mighty and humble of you. This IS about respect: for the entire human race as a whole, and achieving equality amongst the sexes is SUCH a small part of the problems that need addressing in this world that what you wrote should have you fined just for believing that your naivetë is acceptable in this century. Especially over things like the glass ceiling and the gender pay gap. (which, by the way, YES, they ABSOLUTELY DO matter. The fact you're a recruiter!!! as well as a Senior Project Manager makes me Cringe; and to be blunt, despite what you seem to effortlessly believe is actually Illuminating thinking... it isn't; and You are NOT more important or more capable or have ANY more right than a woman (or anybody who identifies as one) in or over ANYTHING ..Just because you were born with a PENIS. Forget the pay gap; but make sure you Remember That.

We hear so much about how a person should be valued for who they are and not what they earn. And then I read these comments. Women should be proud of the fact that there is a gender pay gap. It shows how inspite of being offered the same job as a man at the same HOURLY rate, they would choose to sacrifice that. Not to live out a life of leasure and laziness, but rather to ensure the survival of the human race, whether that be in a low pay/high impact occupation, or the no pay/very high impact position of a mum. Money does not equal respect or honour. Success does. It is therefore very discouraging to see women argue saying they are not being respected because they are not being paid “the same” rather than celebrating the success and accomplishments of women.
