It's World Mental Health Day, so it's a great opportunity to share some key tips on how to manage stress that business Coach CJ McClanahan recently shared during a United Mental Health Session: 🧠 Focus on the now. Don’t worry way into the future as it causes unneeded stress. 🧠Reduce information. Most of the information we get from the news or social media is negative so limiting the negativity we expose ourselves to can increase our wellbeing. 🧠 Plan your day. Unorganized chaos can lead to unnecessary stress. Take the time each morning to plan each day and try to keep a routine. Everyday routines result in less stress and unexpected pitfalls. 🧠 Smile. Studies have shown that you can trick your brain into thinking your mood is elevated more than it really is, thus resulting in you being happier. Smiling is also contagious! 🧠 Exercise. Exercise releases feel-good chemicals in your brain, such as endorphins and serotonin. It can also help you sleep better, which can reduce anxiety and depression. 🧠 Give generously. Helping others also releases endorphins which reduces stress and can give you a fresh perspective on your own life. 🧠 Forgive fast. We all make mistakes and that's okay! It's imperative to learn how to forgive ourselves in order to move forward.

The historic Smith Covered Bridge on CR 150 N over Flatrock River is receiving much-needed rehabilitation. The covered bridge in Rushville was originally constructed in 1877 by A.M. Kennedy & Sons. So, what does rehab look like on a 147-year-old bridge? To replace the truss arch and chord members, the bridge was removed from the original abutments. Once timber replacements and abutment repairs are complete, the bridge will be reset. This entire rehabilitation project includes structural timber truss member replacement, stone abutment repairs, and new siding and roofing. United provided the design and construction inspection for Rush County.
